The September KM is out, here is the thread pointing to it:

    http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/228224/1/2012-September-Kingdom-Ministry

Of particular note is the "highlight" on page 4, announcing the attendance at the Memorial in the USA.

The 2012 Yearbook notes the Memorial attendance in 2011 was 2.563,318, while in 2012, per the September 2012 KM, it was 2,502,055 -- a decline of 2.4%.

The Memorial is the "highlight" of the year - everybody & anybody remotely related to JWs attends: UBMs, studies, faders, DFs, etc.

Even so, the overall attendance dropped by 2.4%.

Has the WTS decline officially begun?

Who has access to the WT-CD? When was the last time that Memorial attendance in the USA actually decreased?

Seriously though, what days of the week were the deny Christ festival on during 2012 and 2011?

Usually a weekend night pulls in a better crowd than one during the week, but still that is a pretty steep drop.

This year it was on Thursday April 5.

Don't recall 2011's date - March 30 sounds vaguely familiar. If that was it, it was on a Wednesday.

Guess that invitation campaign really paid off!

Is the Bahamas number right above? did you mean 3,609?

Those are some pretty big numbers.

I know locally, the numbers were down.

Why would they highlight these declines in the Kingdom Ministry?

Why would they highlight these declines in the Kingdom Ministry?

They don't highlight it as a "decline", they just give the number.

That's what tipped me off - if it had been an increase, they would have trumpeted it as a "new all-time peak!!!!! !!!!! !!!!!"

Most JWs are too lazy to do anything resembling research, so they'll just assume it was an increase.

I noticed this at the DC this summer. They were going on and on about how "260,000 new ones are baptized each year". I think they mentioned it every day.

Everyone was ooh-ing and aah-ing - not mindful of the fact that in the mid-90's the baptism rate was around 350,000 per year.

Ah - does this indicate that the love of the greater number is cooling off..?
