  Add your favorite JW prayer cliche'

  you know what i'm talking about: the trite, often-repeated phrases that convey the person offering the prayer has drawn a mental blank, and utters these words while their brain desperately searches for the next cliche', so they can conclude the ritual with the required tag, "in jesus' name we pray".... (is that like the postage stamp?).

  ok, i'll kick this one off, and take the most obvious:.

  "forgive us where we fall short....".

  Yes, Magwitch, there was. In addition.....it advised that it would not be appropriate to say things like "how are you doing today, God?" Such informal conversation would be inappropriate between lowly humans and the almighty. If I recall correctly that magazine (or maybe it was a KM) said we shouldn't even say such things in private prayers. Isn't it amazing that the GB can manage to even police a person's private conversations with God?

  Looking at your posts 1-15.......let me see if I've got this straight. You are an elder who somehow doesn't have access to the BOE letters that are sent to your congregation which is why you need Atlantis to send them to you...........and you are also involved in a texting/dating relationship, and you are having difficulty breaking that relationship off?

  How do you work through the Anger

  how do you deal with the anger when your parents stop talking to you?

  my partner says i should continue to confront them but it builds so much anger in me and i sometimes i think i should just let it go and bring balance back to my own life.

  it's sort of sureal to mourn your parents while they are still alive.

  It all comes down to how you personally handle it. For instance, I know of ex witnesses that are shunned by their immediate family. While the shunning does hurt these ones....it is important that they keep extending themselves to their witness family.....more or less to show them who is truly showing the "christ like personality".

  Then there are others that are absolutely crushed when their immediate family rejects them. It makes them angry and hurt and it affects their everyday lives.......it even affects their relationships with others.

  You sound like the latter as opposed to the former. If I were you, I'd quit extending yourself to them as it only makes your life worse.

  I hate this goddam divisive fucking cult.

  Sorry......but situations like yours really tend to bring that out in me.

  The majority of growth (baptisms) is coming from poorer countries

  They are selling their brooklyn properties valued at $1billion to move upstate.

  since when did "jehovah's education" ever taught you anything significant other than to be a tool and a slave for the wtb$?.

  What is amazing is that in THEIR world, they are right! Remember, general education teaches you nothing about their organization and its unique teachings. Secular education likewise teaches you nothing about their organization or its unique teachings. Once a person is convinced that secular education is worthless (because God only cares how much "organizational" knowledge you have.......then voila! They DO have the best education because THEY are the only ones teaching it.

  hi, um..i've been looking at this site for a while and decided to join.

  i'm 20 and have been studying since i was 14 (not a publisher) but i honestly didnt really look into the witnesses or analyze what they said.

  all i wanted was to learn more of the bible lol, but recent events have made me notice how pushy they can be.

  Welcome. Unfortunately, many Jehovah's Witnesses are recruited that way. They want to learn what the bible teaches and they make the mistake of trusting in people (witnesses) who in turn put all their trust in other people (the governing body). This governing body is no more directed by god than Papa Smurf is. Likewise the edicts, rules and regulations that come from them are nothing more than their own opinions and biases.....only....portrayed as though they are God's.

  Those that want to "learn more about the bible" are eager to listen. And the JW indoctrinational/propaganda machine is as well oiled as they come.

  Those that are down on their luck are ripe for the picking. What other organization promises a new world without pain soon?

  Those that have lost a loved one are also targeted. What other organization promises that you'll be able to see your dead loved one right here on the earth again?

  If you're depressed......or you've lost a loved one......or you want to understand the bible better.....etc etc....it does not matter. There is always an opportunity for the JWs to come in and indoctrinate.

  glad to see that you've actually analyzed instead of allowing yourself to be indoctrinated with their pipe dreams.
