The worst part about it is that it isn't even clear that he is trying to "witness" to people. Judging by your post....he didn't directly engage anyone in conversation. He didn't have a sign up. Most people probably walked right past him....not taking any more notice than I do with someone that is reading the newspaper at a table. It is a shame he thinks he has to earn his everlasting life by doing this

A sure sign the End is Near....
by King Solomon inthe end of the month, that is, and someone apparently needs to get their hours in.... this resourceful jw (in the left side of the photo) set up shop for a few hours outside a local starbucks, with a wt and awake laid out on a table.
and i i don't think he talked to anyone the whole time he was out there (a few hours).. sure beats all that walking from door-to-door, which would likely result in a bunch of not-at-homes on a weekday: most people are at work.. (i approached him when entering, and asked him about the parable of faithful and "discreet" slave, and asked him what he thought the difference was between a parable and prophecy.
after getting a non-answer (that basically meant he didn't know), i wished him a good morning and went on my way.... .

Who Really is The Faithful and Discreet Slave?
by Recovery inlet's assume, as most of you probably believe, that the anointed christians are not the fds.
if the anointed are not the fds, who are?.

"Sooooo, using your own logic: if some other church claims to be the Faithful and Wise Servant, using the same scriptural proof as WTBTS does, then we MUST accept that, and prove them wrong?
I could claim to be King of Mars, and you'd be forced to accept it until it is positively disproven?"
Exactly King Solomon. I'll add one. Big Foot EXISTS! Now.....the burden of proof rests with the rest of you to prove that he does not.

"Fair enough. Since no one will use scriptures to disprove JW's, I will use the scriptures to prove that they are right, although the failure of 99% of the posters on this board to provide a scriptural refutation of JW's doctrine (which they already know quite well) already proves JW's right."
DJ, I look forward to seeing your proof supposition. BTW, check out my previous post. Deuteronomy, when compared with the litany of failed predictions from the society, proves the witnesses are WRONG.
Moreover.....Jeffro is correct. You really need to try to understand how the burden of proof works. Let alone the approach you've taken. Is this how you "reach" ones at the door when you go in service? Do you base an argument off of unproven supposition and then challenge the householder to prove you wrong? Thus far you have still not shown anyone here why Matthew 24:45-47 should apply as a future prophecy. Still waiting.....

"Suggested" Donation when attending Circuit Assembly
by BluesBrother ini could have called this "fee now charged to go to circuit assembly" but i do not want to start rumours that go beyond what was actually said.
the k hall announcement encouraged attendance at the upcoming assembly day.
the elder then said that since the congregation no longer has to make a blanket donation to the assembly hall it is expected that the publishers remember their responsibility to maintain the costs.

I am with Cedars. I have been mystified for years about how we can own our own building.....yet there will be an announcement on Sunday of the CA that says "and that leaves us with a deficit of $3,487 for this assembly". Especially when the CA is held on a 67 degree day in April when neither A/C nor heat is really needed.

"I agree with most of the principals, but I have a hard time with feeling like there are requirements and stipulations to properly be accepted and looked upon as a good person."
Welcome! Living your life according to the standards set forth in the bible can be a good thing. But that's the point. The society are nothing more than modern day pharisees. Living your life up to standards set forth in the bible isn't good enough for them. You must submit to ALL of their teachings, dictates and rules......whether the bible clearly supports them or not.
You can be a good person and still live your life according to biblical principles......but without subjecting yourself to the mind control techniques of this cult

DJeggnogg.......is that you? You have mastered the art of circular reasoning just like the eggster. You keep demanding scriptural proof that the JWs are wrong in their interpretation of Matthew 24: 45-47. But your demand also requires the belief that this scripture has some sort of future fulfillment. You are using unproven supposition as the premise from which to build your argument. YOU need to first prove that this scripture is prophetic in nature as opposed to merely being an unexplained parable. If that can be done.....then.....logically the debate can be had as to whom the prophecy should apply to. "CaptainObvious went on a rant about Rutherford and Russell and more rhetoric, but didn't use any scriptures to prove JW's wrong." Scriptures aren't even necessary when failed prophesies by themselves will do the trick. But.....for giggles....how about Deuteronomy 18:20-22? "However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. 21 And in case you should say in your heart: “How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?” 22 when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. You must not get frightened at him.’" Compare with the masthead of the Awake for decades. "this magazein builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away" The Awake clearly gives Jehovah credit for "promising" that the "new world" will be here before the generation of 1914 passes away. That didn't happen. So they are, by definition in Deuteronomy, a false prophet. Did Jesus appoint a false prophet? "We know that Jesus parousia started in 1914 so it would be necessary for it to be happening right now in the 20th/21st century." No, we do not know that. Circular reasoning again. Prove that Christ's parousia began in 1914. Until you can do that....you are again....using unproven supposition as the premise from which to build your argument.

If you can believe that this parable is actually somehow a PROPHECY that applies nearly 2,000 years later to a group of men in Brooklyn (please don't make the argument that the faithful slave is actually the "remnant of all anointed christians" because we both know that ONLY those 7 men in Brooklyn have any say whatsoever in regard to policy, rules and doctine)......then you can just as easily believe that Proverbs 4:18 is likewise....more than just a proverb. It too is a future prophecy that applies ONLY to the leadership of Jehovah's Witnesses....and it just happens to act as a handy escape hatch for any and all failed predictions made by them.
Wait......my guess is that you already do believe that.

The Decline of Elders and Ministerial Servants
by Londo111 ini seem to remember somebody saying that since the 90's the number of elders has declined from 90000 to 60000. does anybody have any hard figures regarding this?.
the organization is desperate for "qualified" men.
but their standards are much too high, especially the monthly field service hour requirements tagged on to endless meetings and congregational busywork.

Of course! They think this happens magically via holy spirit!

I recall a talk at a circuit assembly about 5 years ago given by the DO himself. He PLEADED for the young men to reach out. "JEHOVAH needs you! Don't you want to give back to your loving creator?"
