  Did You Know A Lot Of Elders That Simply Weren't Too Bright?

  i did.. most of the elders were decent men but i'd say a third weren't the brightest bulbs in the sky..

  Yes. There was (is) an elder at my old hall that literally had a 4th or 5th grade reading level. He gave AWFUL public talks. And worse yet.....they would use him every now and then as the Watchtower reader. He would stumble through paragraph after paragraph....mispronouncing words and sometimes even making up words that weren't on the page. If a word on the page was too difficult for him......he would just ignore it and move on to the next one.

  SD7 - You must not have been as indoctrinated as I was. It didn't matter what I read.....I always looked for a stupid reason to "prove" Jehovah's justice. And if I couldn't do that.....then I simply told myself that the reason I couldn't see his justice in a particular situation is because I have foolish, fleshly thinking.......therefore I must not understand it.

  SAD news about OOMPA......

  our friend, oompa, has passed away.

  just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.

  it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.

  quick update - my wife moved out and took the kids with her while i was at work.

  she went to live with her parents.

  she took every last article of clothing and even some of her favorite furniture.

  Quick update - My wife moved out and took the kids with her while I was at work. She went to live with her parents. She took every last article of clothing and even some of her favorite furniture. She refused to answer my calls. The next day (yesterday) I went to my daughter's kindergarten class to see her. My wife was there. She said "I take it you didn't get the papers?". Obviously I hadn't. Evidently she filed for legal separation and took temporary custody. I still don't have the papers. I have a 3:00 appointment today with my attorney.

  I spoke with my wife briefly. She said, "this doesn't mean it's final". I.E. - Perhaps we can still work things out. I'd like to believe her but I am fairly confident it is just theocratic warfare. Why would she move out without telling me......empty half the bank account......remove all clothing and toys from the house, and refuse to let me see my children without her (she filed for temporary custody) being present......unless this was permanent.....and she was just trying to force my hand and make me be the bad guy for filing for divorce? Also.....part of me thinks she is just trying to lead me on so I'll remain gentle and perhaps then she'll get a more favorable settlement.

  Anywho.....I need help. I want to arm my lawyer with all sorts of good publication material that shows what a whack job religion this is. Articles that tell the sheep to shun others is good. Articles that forbid blood is good. Articles that tell children how wrong it is to have "worldly" friends and how wrong it is to play sports etc etc.

  Please........help!

  Experience with Former Elder regarding contributions at Conventions

  i recently had the opportunity to visit with a former elder who has successfully faded without getting df'd, but he is completely aware of the sham.

  he was the main accounts guy for the conventions in his circuit.

  he related a very telling story to me the other day that i thought i would share with you.

  i'd like to have this post be about powerful common-sense questions that get right to the core of unraveling it for the nonsense it is.

  when i talk to jw relatives, i'm sticking with the strategy of just posing questions instead of arguing with them.

  If God was really loving.....and he wanted to PROVE the issue of sovereignty.....why not let Adam and Eve grow old and die.....while allowing their offspring to remain perfect and witness what happens to the ones that challenged his sovereignty?

  Oh yeah.....cause then we wouldn't have the lame assed excuse that is used today as to why God allows wickedness and suffering.

  my younger cousin.

  well,i was so worried about him and how he would feel/grow up if i stopped pushing the religion down his throat but i did.

  since then, the boy seems so much happier and comfortable with me.
