I did ask a few specific questions but each was met with "we are not here to answer your questions" or "the book of timothy advises us to avoid answering foolish questions".
I finally said "I have a LOT of questions and thus far you've managed to avoid all of them. Flat out....are you willing to answer any of these?" The main elder said "no, we will not"

Blinders - Yes....they did indeed say that. My response to them was "I cannot answer your question as to whether or not I believe the organization is directed by Jehovah. Your answers to MY questions would go a long way toward ME being able to answer YOU."

It went as expected. I had MULTIPLE opportunities to pounce on their inconsistencies....but I refrained. Why you may ask? Because I was recording it. Not for my benefit. Not even for the benefit of those that may want to hear it on Youtube. But for my daughters. Many years from now.....they will be accustomed to the local JWs (including their mom) referring to me as a mentally diseased apostate. They will be told that during my judicial committee hearing......I was irreverant, combative, insulting.....you know.....everything they paint an apostate to be. So for their sake........I was as calm and non-combative as possible. I brought up a few points.....but most importantly.....I asked twice.....if the elders will please answer my questions. I explained to them that the publications do not answer my questions. I explained that my wife would not discuss with me. I explained that my father in law (who is an elder) refused to answer my questions. I explained to them that I had written to the society and they too have refused to respond. Both times I asked the elders to answer my questions.....they refused. And that.....is what I wanted. I wanted my daughters to be able to hear with their own ears that their papa remained calm during their scrutiny. And that I have legitimate questions that no one at all is willing to consider.
I would have liked to have opened up the discussion to a host of uncomfortable topics for them......but I did not. All I wanted was to record their refusal to answer my questions. Mission accomplished

i'm an inactive jw, been in and out sporidically these past few years, but its only these recent months after reading crisis of conscience and christian freedom that i think i will never go back there again.. the reason i've been inactive primarily is because i have issues regarding masturbation and porn.
my conscience cannot allow to continue preaching while i continously being overcome by these habits myself.
Porn is just like gambling. There is nothing inherently wrong with it. But if you have an addiction then you need to curtail it.
And please show me where the bible prohibits masturbation?

Madcow - I am in the same exact boat as Punkofnice. I have committed no sin. But I dared question the leadership of the organization. I dared think for myself and because of this I will be disfellowshipped next week and my wife left me. Loyalty to the organization takes precedence over marriage and even over children. This organization DESTROYS families. PLEASE reconsider.

Both of the reasons you mentioned are arbitrary at best. Think about what you are doing. Does God really want you to dedicate yourself to an organization that makes decisions like this? Do you believe God is directing them to tell you this?
or do you think the sheeple will just follow the gb's words without question?.
I had a chance to speak to my nephew (born in) a few weeks ago, and he had absolutely no idea what anything means ( no idea how you arrive to 1914, no idea that Jesus is the mediator for FDS, no idea what the current generation understanding is, no idea that you can take blood fraction, etc etc etc).
Yet, he goes out preaching.... The issue is that preaching these days amounts to something like " Hi, isn't the world bad? Please take this magazine and if it's ok i can come back next week to give you another one" .
This says it all. Most witnesses including my wife have no idea on any of this stuff. They just "know" it has to be "the truth".....and if you challenge that pipe dream you'll draw that person's righteous indignation. They can't explain the bible. They can only talk about certain points of major doctrine in which they've been handed cherry picked scriptures taken out of context to apply. They've been told that "faith without works is dead" therefore in order to earn their ticket to the new system they must perform the works they are told to perform. There is no thinking. It is total and complete trust in the leaders of the organization.

Nice work UR. I have a judicial committee meeting coming up in three days (that I will be recording). I will be sure to ask the elders what they might think if such a scenario were to take place (all the aforementioned changes). My guess is that they will say such changes would be preposterous....having no idea that this info is on the horizonI

Never a JW - To answer your question.....many JWs are very intelligent. It's just.....the borg crushes independent thinking and demonizes critical thinking. Those abilities are stolen from you. When people wake up.....they kick start those abilities again voila!
i did.. most of the elders were decent men but i'd say a third weren't the brightest bulbs in the sky..
Yes. There was (is) an elder at my old hall that literally had a 4th or 5th grade reading level. He gave AWFUL public talks. And worse yet.....they would use him every now and then as the Watchtower reader. He would stumble through paragraph after paragraph....mispronouncing words and sometimes even making up words that weren't on the page. If a word on the page was too difficult for him......he would just ignore it and move on to the next one.
