Jeehoober says we can clap for reinstated ones!!
by DATA-DOG inso, i guess an upcoming wt has some new light on clapping!
evidently, jesus has misinformed the gb/wtbts since the late 90's.
clapping was disrespectful, because jesus felt that those who were df'd should not be given a pat on the back.

Being Bad in the Kingdom Hall
by Funchback inwhat things did (do) you or someone you know do in the kingdom hall that was a no-no?.
i remember in the 80s when, during the meeting, three friends and i were breakdancing in the foyer.
3 out of 4 us are happily out of that organization.. as i was trudging through my fade and attending meetings, i sometimes dwelled on how much time and money i wasted during my years as a jw.

I liked to make 'adjustments' to the talk schedules posted on the bulletin board. A few double ended arrows here and there, between names to indicate a switch had been made. It worked once, causing some confusion as to who was supposed to do the next talk.

Operating the sound system and playing an Eagles tape in my headphones. It was a thrill knowing that all I had to do was turn one knob and everyone at the meeting would hear.

Looks like 'native/meek society' clothing from an episode of Star Trek TNG.

I have given the "special talk" two times. Yesterday instead of being the speaker, I was home studying an online electronics course. Can you guess which activity gave me more satisfaction? -

I can't take it anymore!
by BlackWolf inmy dad was recently made an elder about maybe 6 months ago, and now he is never around he's always at work or doing some kind of jw crap.
now he conducts the watchtower study and is even doing the special talk tommorow.
he's become an even more strict controlling jerk than he was before, and i'm never allowed to go out and do anything non jw related because he doesn't have the time.

That is how I acted as an elder. I had to be exemplary in every way and my family also. I felt trapped in many ways, so many 'privileges' to take care of. Every bit of it was never ending work.
I too was an elders kid and felt the same way you do. My Dad was a great friend and father. The stress of being an elder is what got to him. Shamefully, I let the same thing happen to me as an elder, except I had a meltdown, nearly killed myself, then quit.
Was your Dad like this before his appointment?

One image makes me want to research how the Roman death sentence was carried out. The 'artwork' showed a Roman soldier with a rickety ladder leaning against an already upright stake. A nearly dead Jesus with feet dragging was being hauled towards the torture stake.
It looked like the Romans would have to hold a limp bodied Jesus way up on the stake while one dude hammered in a few nails while standing on his half-assed ladder.
I was looking at this scene while pondering the mechanics of getting a man nailed up there when POOF!!! fade out to the corporate website logo (again no longer than ONE second), then black screen...
