So an old friend from the hall called me today....

he said he wanted to know how i was doing and what was going on with me.

i knew that it was only a matter of time before he started asking about me not being to the hall in like 3 months and him trying to bring me back into the fold.

and in about less than a minute he started telling me about how everyone at the hall misses me and asks about me.

Hey shakyground, I don't post a lot but I had to respond. I have always felt that this whole thing is based on failed logic. Why would they appeal to your sense of family? I mean according to their theology; if you make to the new system you won't remember all of the bad things that happened before, ergo: your family and friends aren't going to remember you if you caused them pain or dissapointment, and neither will you since if there is no after life then neither will you. It's just a pile of garbage heaped upon garbage. Their own belief system is built on a house of cards. Personally I enjoy their headgames. I really liked the responses of troubled mind: they would really make people feel uncomfortable. Anyway take care.

i'll keep this brief for now.. long time lurker (4 years or so).. born-in, elder, used on district level (last talk i gave before i left was the baptisimal talk), and lots of hard time put in...before i finally made the move to split.

it's a long stoy, much like many of yours...but with it's own little interesting twists.

more details in the future, perhaps.. as i said, ive lurked here for a while.. its funny: for a long time i'd only come on late at night.

Welcome Unlearn from a recent member and poster as well. Well well, a former; and may I say prominent elder. From a fellow "born in" my hat is off to you sir for enduring so long. Truly difficult to do. For myself I am still "in", yet not mentally. My loving and dear wife is still in yet I believe is secretly harbouring doubts herself. Thank you so much for your story. It has shown me there is hope for me too. I was never an elder but was a well used ms, public talks, and every form of responsibility out there. I was used up and when accused falsely was thrown to the wolves. Anyway, if you wish more details send me a pm.

Nov.15th WT - WT Society Wants & Needs Elders- Not very High Standards

as many of us realize- times are hard for the wt society getting men to " reach out " for an elders or ministerial servants position as young men aged ( 18-35 ) are opting out of doing that due to the pressure they are under from the wt society leaders and just that it takes up too much valuable time where men could be earning a living and helping their own families instead of a thankless magazine printing corporation.

in the article " train others to reach out " in this issue it has lots of strange, controlling, yet perplexing statements which i'm sure will confuse jw men who are considering " reaching out ".

in fact, i think this article will discourage more than encourage them from doing so.. on pg.

Oh they are desperate all right. It's a freaking joke. I have seen some elders appointed in the last 10 years that have no business handling microphones let alone "taking the lead". Some of them meant well; but those that did were woefully out of their depth intellectually. I know an elder in my hall who has been an elder since 1974 when the arrangement was instituted. I was in his book study group for 10 years at one point. Now this guy is great, very easygoing and very smart. Dosen't get wound up about stuff, and gives a pretty good talk. However, I have NEVER been to a door with this elder, nor in the 30 years in this congregation have I EVER seen him take a door with anyone else. EVER. He would just drive around "checking" on the others in the service group in the territory and then take others to their calls. Now I really don't care, but when I was told that I had to get the cong average at minimum or I wouldn't be considered again for ms I just laughed. I worked at a bank for 10 years and was told plainly: you don't get your monthly sales? No chance for promotion. End of story. Hmmmmmm sounds familiar? Now this elder as far as I'm concerned didn't ever really go out in service...but there he was an appointed elder. Why? Because they have been hurting so bad for brothers that the last thing they would do is remove an elder for gun decking his hours. Anyway that's my rant.

Also 2010 talk regarding a comment on why the Nazis attempted to conquer Europe. I was daydreaming and the comment brought me back to reality and it didn't sound right to me...however my darling wife wasn't taking notes. Not that I blame her. Most of the arguments presented are so weak it isn't funny. No wonder they want no higher education or crtitical thinking.

Hi possible san, just thought I would say hi. Where in Japan are you? Are you currently a jw or have you truly embraced your true membership in the"land of the martial spirit"? I ask from the standpoint of one who wishes to be part....although as a "gaijin" I would always be the "nail who must be beaten down"..

Illegal online version of Carl Jonssons book

the online version 4 of carl olof jonssons book, gentile times reconsidered is illegal.. unknown to carl, a swedish man prepared his book for the web and put his name on the copyright page.

he also made some changes and additions to the book that carl does not accept.. he had it published and many have loaded it down from that site and published it on their sites.. doug.

Then Josh had to let them in since he gave his word? Then they were made basically servant? Well I remember the society saying that the great crowd were the Gibeonites and the annointed were Josh and the boys.....so let me get this straight: the great crowd lied to the annointed(who we now know have no authority) so they could support them in the preaching work? RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!

Since my Elder dad died...

ive been sad.i miss him alot.but i must say,it is very nice to not be hearing all of the "doom and gloom" all of the time.the "we will all be in paradise except you,and even tho i wont be supposed to,ill still miss you" speech.

{still chokes me up a bit}.hell,yeah,i miss my dad,and feel like i was robbed of many years of a good life with him by the jw's and their petty doctrines and spys.i still have my mum,and she goes to the meetings occasionally,but she knows the deal.my dad was just too damaged from his time in aushweitz to really ever be happy of free.poor soul.i hope he has found some solace and peace at last.dad,i still love you,even tho you made my life hell with the jw thing,i know you were doinf it cause you really did believe it...but its nice to be away from it.i hope he is at peace at last......

So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my mom several years ago, and it's so hard. It will take some time, but wounds do indeed heal. Take care.
