I saw this post Watersprout and had to get to the nearest computer, I haven't figured out to post from my Iphone yet.
When my daughter passed, I was told all kinds of insensitive comments, "well God needed a beautiful flower for his garden" "at least you didn't get a chance to know her so she won't be missed as much" "you should get rid of all her stuff" the list can go on and on but the one that got me the most was when a woman asked me what was her name, I told her Allana and she said, "what a waste of a beautiful name" I didn't have the strength for an all out assault on the woman. To this day it still bothers me, 17 years and I can't get past it.
People should really think before they speak, especially when it comes to someone who is grieving...

A little about me,
I was raised in Long Beach, CA. I am Mexican/Apache/White/Cherokee lol. My father is from Tucson, AZ and mom is from Los Angeles, CA. I was raised to give praise to God everyday and to do what is right. I grew up a fighter and didn't let anyone put me down whether it was race issue or the way I looked. I was never a reckless teenager but did enjoy a few parties here and there. I always had self respect and respected others.
In 1995 I suffered a cerebral hemmoraghe and had brain surgery to repair. I also am an Epileptic since puberty. None of these things bring me down, only build me up. I am not a victim nor will I ever play one.
I have a huge heart and give to the needy whenever possible. I love my family, they're my life.
My husband is a naturalized American. He was born in the Philipines and came to the US at the age of 2. His mom was pregnant with his sister and had to leave her in the Philipines for 6 years of her life. When my hubby's sister came to the US she was told all she knew as a Catholic is a sham and the Pope is a bad person. You see while my in-laws first came here they didn't go to church until them DOOR KNOCKERS came around. My husband's whole life changed, no more parties or holidays and everything was worldly and wicked. Most of his teenage years was dressing in monkey suits and spreading their faith. He finally said he wasn't going anymore and of course his dad was angry but my husband stood his ground. It was until after the death of our child he started dabbling in JW worship again.
My sister in-law was accepted with a scholarship to attend UCIrvine where her parents said no. She got pregnant soon after and left the house for good. Now she's in a failing marriage with 4 kids. I blame her parents for that, she did what she had to do to get out of there. Her story is so heart-breaking and I'm afraid I'll start crying if I'm to type it out.
My hubby's lil brother is now a bi-polar schitzo. He did meth during puberty which changed the chemicals in his brain. I now know why he did drugs, to cope with that religion. While he was still a minor, we told his parents to seek help for him but they said Jehovah's Witnesses don't get outside help. Like the elders are quailified therapists. Now he's a major burden.
I have three babies one in spirit. My eldest is 16, SMART kid, handsome and very witty. I get go many comments on how respectable he is. My husband said he is only like that because I raised him that way. He loves his sports and friends and DOES NOT dabble in drugs or gangs like my hubby and brother in-law did. I show him love, real love not what an orginazation say real love is.
My babygirl is a doll. She's 8 and too smart for her own age. She loves volleyball and dammit, BOYS already. She's my long eye lashed beauty with a huge heart. She is a daddy's girl and getting one of the highest marks in her school .
I love my kids and yes, I do push them to be the best. That's my job lol.

Thanks all, me being an outsider really appreciates all the input.
Skeeter- From day one my children were to be brought up like my childhood was, parties, holidays and the whole nine yards. They now know they are not to have say in my children's religion. Escpecially after my husband, their son told them that they wasted his childhood. I threw a huge 16th birthday for my son last November and had a DJ and all. The in-laws showed up with food but only after I told my husband it was ok. He initially told them to remember their rules, no birthday parties and they told him that his brother wanted to come. So, I look over at the DJ and see my mother in-law tapping her feet then gets up to ask the DJ to play some song by the Beatles. At a 16 year old party, the Beatles? lol, I thanked her a few days later and she said they were not there to celebrate but to eat only. I felt my blood pressure rise and I told her then she should not of been tapping her feet to the music and certainly never should of requested a song. To me that is celebrating.
They give my kids gifts or money two or three days after holidays and birthdays and say it's just because.
George- I know they are all for themselves and has to be the greediest and burdensome religion on the planet. Why do they use Government schools, financial aid and medi care if they are not part of this wicked world? I always wanted to ask a JW.
I'm happy I made a choice to post, thanks again all and stay blessed

ABibleStudent-he was never baptized. His parents didn't talk to him for 2 months after the initial confrontation on their religion. He knows that pain of being isolated because he grew up in "the truth" and knows never to question their doctrine.
Thank you Mrs Jones I read a lot of your replies to posts. They make me smile.

Thanks Snowbird
It's been a long battle but so happy to have a husband that respects me as an equal. For years I was told I am lesser then and would never be his equal. Thank God he now is finally coming to light about this. I once asked him a question about John 1:1 and he said I don't know the bible. I yelled at him and told him neither does he because the NWT book is distorted to fit the WT doctrine. He said I was right on that.
I hear him walking off calling his mom to question everything I show and tell him. Not questioning me but her. He yelled at her that he never knew the story of Lot and his daughters. It always turns into a shouting match over the phone and the last words she said about me is that I am putting a bad influence on him. He told her that he's seen it with his own eyes and I am there to verify it. She won't speak to me with that anger but calls me to conversate. She's very hesitant like she wants to say more.
I am happy to say the last conversation my mother in-law was asking my husband to find a church for her. I think it's a start and all the info we have shown her is putting a doubt about the JWs in her head...

I'm not nor ever been a JW but my husband tells me about an elder that pulled him to the side and told him never to wear all black again. He said, "you look like a ninja" My husband is Filipino and I took it as a racist remark.
