  You and the others who have come forward (both in the Dateline program and not) are, indeed, heros. My heart goes out to you and your family for all you've endured.

  Dateline frequently does updates on stories, in the form of tagged-on lines (by anchors) to stories that may relate to the original, as well as longer segments in future broadcasts, after more facts come to light. I hope this will be the case, as the Catholic church is also under scrutiny, and this issue is one that everybody can relate to. This is not the end of the matter by any means!

  Sorry I have't said "Hi" before. I was raised a JW in northeast Florida, & my little brother married a Dub from St. Augustine. He is definitely "inactive", she is semi-active. When we were kids, we used to go to Jacksonville for the District Conventions - just wondering if maybe I know you from then. I went to Bethel in 1986, left & stayed in Brooklyn as a Pioneer. Don't you have ANY concern for the thousands of children who have suffered this abuse? Doesn't your "Bible-trained conscience" pain you at all when you see that CONVICTED sexual predators are allowed to go door-to-door? How can you say that things on the Dateline program are "half truths and outright lies"? Have you personally investigated these things?   Dateline---That was It?

  well, i am bucking the general consensus here that everything went well on dateline.

  i thought it was fine as far as it went but looking at it through the local jw eyes it will not get what you all and i hoped for.

  the show didn't put proof on all the cases we all know about.

  One half hour is all it got and on top of everything the last thing said was that all these ones involved were looking at a possible disfellowshipping.

  Good for you for wanting to "buck the concensus". But bear in mind that 30 minutes of airtime on what is currently the network that's #1 in the ratings, in PRIMETIME is quite a coup. And, the last thing said by Stone Phillips was that those facing expulsion (or who already have been expelled) were suing the WT and the local congregation elders. It was very well done, for mainstream media. Considering the tremendous amount of information that had to sifted through in order to get this story done in a timely fashion, the producers at Dateline did an admirable job. Whatever satifaction you're seeking concerning this issue isn't just going to fall in your lap - but this show was a great start!

  just got off the phone with my mother...she is in such deep denial over this whole thing.

  i can't believe that she had the nerve to actually stand up for the fellow in the legal department at headquarters regarding the advice he give to bill bowen.

  she told me that he's just an imperfect human.
