  i'm a 39 yr old woman who was raised in the truth.

  i had a wonderful happy childhood and have the best parents anyone could ever want.

  i was one of 7 kids , my parents are elderly now and try to attend what meetings they can i have 2 sisters and one brother still in the truth and one sister on the fringes.

  well as you would have guessed from my name, i am a proud witness and i feel obliged to preach to you about the promises that our wonderful creator, jehovah god, has promised each and every one of us, of any race or background.

  i know that you already know what he has told us through his word, but i am curious to wonder why you have chosen to jump off the narrow road which leads to everlasting life.

  is it because you have had a bad experience in god's organization?

  a jw spammer just jumped onto a medical message board that i belong to.

  i would like to have some suggestions for posting to her.. her topic was (i'm sure you can almost guess what her topic was) "you can live forever in paradise.".

  i need to be respectful of her because the board is moderated very closely and putdowns will not be tolerated, but i'd like some suggestions for questions i can ask her.. okay?

  it is hard to understand why president bush chose to come out in support of sharon right at this moment, when things in iraq are at their most difficult and sensitive.

  people are saying he has only inflamed the situation even more than before and has further endangered the troops.

  he seems to have relied more on divine guidance than the considered opinions of his top advisers.

  bush told woodward that as he approached the final decision to go to war, "i was praying for strength to do the lord's will ... i'm surely not going to justify war based on god.

  With the exception of a very small minority, humans are not capable of killing other humans. This is why countries and military forces must "dehumanize" the enemy that will be attacked.

  Pay attention and you will notice that before a war, each side will try to make the other look like a monster in the eyes of its people. We were made to see the Taliban as monsters... this made it much more easy to kill them. We were made to see Saddam and his military as a monsters... this made it much more easy to kill them.

  Elsewhere, you nailed it. Also brings to mind GW Bush's "evildoers" epithets (and any variants).

  Much like his much-ballyhooed fundamentalist "faith", this all supports his administration's agenda in whipping up the the fervor of the Religious Right. Gotta keep that voter base alive & kickin'!

  a state of hostility accompanied by actions designed to subjugate or to destroy those viewed as the enemy.. god - ordained warfare, jesus foretold warfare,ever since the turning of the flaming sword at the entrance to the garden of eden ( if you believe the bible ).. the two opposing sides have always believed in their own cause, that they were right, holy, etc.mankind's inhumanity to man has always been with us.the list of whom did what to who is endless as history testifies.we do not need the particulars here, for again the history list goes on and on.from god at the entrance to the garden to the present time war has been inescapeable for most of humanity.. when and how will this madness end?

  Um, OK. Let me get this straight: we have the ability to reason, distinguish right from wrong, have (and act on) empathy for others, develop and create great art, music & literature - yet there's "no need to believe" that we can rise above aggressive behavior?

  Well, I guess the human race is just screwed then, isn't it?
