Favorite JW URBAN LEGEND?

the story of why the new bible has a grey cover (silver sword) moved me to ask you all what your favorite jw urban legend is?.

3. 1 bethelite preaching in N.Y. and entering a barbershop to get a haircut. The barber asks the bethelite what hes doing and jw tells him they're preaching about Jehovah's kingdom. Barber answers and says " yes I know Jehovah, he killed my children in the flood". The bethelite faints. When he wakes up the barbershop is an empty shop but the jw had his hair cut. So a demon gave this bethelite a free haircut then disappeared.

4. A sister was preaching at a house and the householder tells the sister that she knows who the demons are as they speak to her. The lady added that recently they havent spoken to her and she asked them why. They told her they were very busy as armageddon was near and they were busy working on deceiving the JW's.

Missionaries to vacate all missionary homes

latest news from a source (missionary in foreign land):.

no more missionary homes anywhere in the world.. all missionaries presently in missionary homes must vacate.

must get housing on your own / from the locals.. circuit and district overseers have moved into many of these former missionary homes.. reasons: liability, cost savings, real estate to be sold or used for other purposes.. needless to say, many of these longtime servants are very unsettled.

Watchtower pushes youths to have goals like Bethel, Pioneering, Missionaries & Circuit overseers. They are told not to pursue higher education or to become financially independent.

The youths are told not to worry about food, clothing and shelter as the WT would provide that for them as long that they remain in their assignments.

Now that bubble has burst as Bethelites have been laid off, missionaries and circuit overseers have had their monthly re-imbursements cut and now these people have to depend on the compassion and sorrow of the locals.

Those youths that believed that fantasy now have to face the fact that they were misled and now have to find a way to survive especially if their past their prime.

I know a former district overseer in his 60's that spent his whole life in fulltime service and now has to work as a pirate cabdriver to survive as his special pioneer allowance is not enough to get by.

WTS soliciting donations in Southern California

just talked to an older jw in my old hall.

he said there was a special 2 hour elder's meeting recently in southern california spanning many counties and areas.

apparently, due to the massive jw growth, the rbc or wt (he didn't know which one) will be announcing they they are asking each family to contribute $10/month toward new construction of kingdom halls in the southern california area.. .

Bethelites told to protest by the GB??

when i served in bethel during the late 90's i was told by several bethel elders that since the city did not approve the 30 story residential building (now 90 sands) to be built in columbia heights, bethelites were sent to stand in front of city hall as a protest.

this was approved by the gb.. i wasn't there at that time but my question is.... is there anybody here that may have been at bethel or nyc at that time that can shed more light on this?

the wt criticizes organizations and individuals that protest to protect their rights.

Is there anybody here that may have been at Bethel or NYC at that time that can shed more light on this?

The WT criticizes organizations and individuals that protest to protect their rights. Couldn't the bethelites & JW's see a double standard?

Were they carrying any placards or were they just standing in front of city hall?

Anyone that can shed any light on this would be very appreciated.

Can you list watchtower articles that claim anything from the 'faithful slave' should be taken as from jehovah himself?

just a few wts that put to the effect anything from them should be taken as from jehovah himself and also with elders or being disfellowshipped, that it means jehovah himself is angry with them, that's it's punishment from him.

The problem is not their failed predictions but that they keep claiming that they are guided by God and demand obedience from their followers.

They also blatantly lie about their false predictions. It's no wonder they warn their members not to read anything that contradicts the GB.

Regrets for knowing the TATT? Strange feeling overcoming...

today is a strange day.. i have been out of the borg for a while now.

some years have passed and i thoroughly enjoy the freedom, not having to bend my mind and rape my soul to force myself to do and say things that i don't feel or believe.

i started my own business, got a wonderful girlfriend and made some friends (that are not monsters like the wt$ likes to portray others).. my parents, siblings, brothers-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles, ex-wife, "friends" and my daughter, have cut their contact to me.

Im sorry for the pain you're going through. Hang in there, you have a full, meaningful life ahead of you. You showed great courage by abandoning the WT fantasy world and servitude to men. Not everyone can do that.

Those feelings will come up once in a while as you had lost alot for rejecting a man made illusion. I hope you can get your daughter back or spend time with her. Whats important is that you still love her and she will understand the situation you were put in by the borg.

Long Time Bethelites Facing Job Insecurity, Old Age, And Poverty, As Watchtower Corporation Downsizes Due To Years Of Wishful Thinking, Failed Predictions And False Hopes

i think many older ones at bethel have a nagging feeling that these new guys that make up the governing body now at bethel don't really give a rats ass what happens to them and that because of all the failed predictions their future is very bleak as the corporation trims all the fat and sends them on their merry way with little hope of material benifits for all years of slaving for the corporation.. the scenario or fantacy cycle for wishful thinking is: a pattern that recurs in personal lives, in politics, in history and in storytelling.

when we embark on a course of action which is unconsciously driven by wishful thinking, all may seem to go well for a time, in what may be called the dream stage(1874-1914, 1916-1925, 1925-1975).

but because this make-believe can never be reconciled with reality, it leads to a frustration stage(1975-2014) as things start to go wrong, prompting a more determined effort to keep the fantasy in being.

The oldtime bethelites and retired co', missionaries end up in Congos where they become a burden to the locals. The same brothers that were criticized for having families, businesses and even higher education end up footing the bill. Then these same oldtimers sing and dance yelling that god has provided for them for being faithful to the WT corporation. Meanwhile the congo members are presented resolutions to financially support those and coercered to support those resolutions. They also end up applying for food stamps, welfare and other benefits from satans system that they spent decades condenming. Most dont even realize they wasted their lives serving men that dont give a care of their situation for obeying them blindly.

You need to tell your brother that serving the WT corporation does not free him from his obligation of taking care of your parents. Its not fair that you have been carrying that responsability alone. Being a pioneer, bethelite etc does not justify freeloading off everybody else. They made that personal decision and they need to support and carry their own financial weight. It's like making a donation to the redcross but asking your family to pay for it even though you never asked them for permission.

The world needs more strong and courageous women like Barbara.

So someone is humble if they just keep quiet and allow injustice, suffering and even sexual molestation to go unchallenged?

Didn't Abigail speeak up when David was going to kill Nabal and his men? Did God consider her an evil proud apostate for not going along with anointed King David's decision?

What about Sara when she spoke up against the abuse and injustice that she and her son Isaac were going through? Did God consider her a wicked woman not knowing her place or did he tell her husband Abraham to listen to her?

What about Saphira? She supported and went along with her husbands lie and she was killed?!!!?!!

Evil wins when good men (or women) do nothing.

Thank you Barbara for what you have done to expose the evil, coldhearted policies of the WT.
