Paul was the walrus? John was the walrus? And Tarsus....weren't they from Liverpool?
Now I don't know what to believe!
Sigh. Religion is hard.
many new testament biblical students today of both messianic jewish and christian backgrounds, are finding out that paul of tarsus simply doesn't fit with the remainder of new testament theology.
there is an article i've recently read, from the judaism vs. christianity dot com website that deals explicitly with this topic.... well, now i cannot seem to access it, but here is the link:.

yesterday, i opened a topix account so i could post the information about watch tower representatives attending the political ocse meeting in poland for two weeks and the proof that they are an ngo.
one of the posters responded with these words: .
"barbs-info," eh?
That remark, "the messenger deserves to be shot" brings to mind the 'hate' remarks the Society has used in the past, without hesitation. For example,
"...in order to hate what is bad a Christian must hate the person with whom the badness is inseparably linked." (W 7-15-61- p420)
-- And --
"...a Christian must hate (in the Biblical sense of the word) those who have inseparably attached themselves to the badness." (W 10-1-93 p19)
The real problem with these remarks is that the WTS considers anyone who has left the organization, even for good reasons, or who disagrees with any Watchtower teaching, to be "inseparably linked to badness", and must therefore be "hated".
Even though such strong language isn't always used, the seitiment of 'hating the person' is clearly there, as recent 'mentally diseased' articles show.
Sadly, this rubs off on Jehovah's Witnesses who are constantly subjected to this kind of rhetoric. The result is that otherwise good people end up making viscous, hateful, remarks like those Barbara received.
Being away from the Watchtower is sooo refreshing!
scary ones, stupid ones, funny ones, even good ones, anything.. .
if anyone can find a lot of the scary ones, that would be great, but that's just for me.
i want to show them to someone.. .
This cover photo, showing the 'generation that will notd pass away' is good. This one is complete with names and date of death of each.
...i wish this was a religion.. i like the possibility of a paradise earth.. i dont believe in hellfire.. i like reading about jesus and trying to imitate him.. i think love of neighbor is important.. i like the concept of being identified by love.. i enjoy daily bible reading.. i pray to jehovah through jesus name.. i feel comfortable teaching my children these things.
i hope they listen but learn to make decisions for themselves and live a good honest , happy life.. but someone wont allow that, and that is the bride of christ.. this bridezilla has made it clear who wears the pants and has rendered her fiance a lame duck.
it seems like she would want to help me teach my kids to be christ-like.
'Christian' is a legal term used to dress up her maiden name....that's great.
the reason i ask is that i have a coupe of cousins who are still jws who have gone gambling in casinos with us.
i have a brother-in-law who openly brags about his "perfect" blackjack strategy he employs in vegas when he's in town.. i know that growing up as a jw, gambling of any kind was a dfing offense.. is my jw family simply more liberal than most, or has there been a subtle shift in this area since i've been out?.
Here is another, more lenient point of view, from.... the 2010 Elder's manual!
(Shepherd the Flock of God, p70) (Note, that's page 70 of the book, not of the PDF download, which includes the cover and more as pages.)
“The elders do well not to involve themselves in what individuals do with regard to petty gambling solely for entertainment. They may need to give counsel if this becomes a cause of stumbling for others or affects the spirituality of the individual or the congregation.”
So, isn't the acceptance of "petty gambling solely for entertainment" a new point of view? I remember when penny ante games were taboo.
Then comes the problem of drawing a line between what is petty gambling and what isn't.
in 1889 the wbt$ predicts in detail the spiritistic scheming priestcraft it would come to embrace (due to the harlotrous gb's insatiable lust for graven unnatural spiritual intercourse or prostitution with demons):.
"the underlying principle of the great reformation, to which all protestants look back with pride, was the right of individual judgment in the interpretation of the scriptures, in opposition to the papal dogma of submission to clerical authority and interpretation.
on this very point was the whole issue of the great movement.
Of coure the Society has made correct predictions. Lots of 'em. Here are a few. (Notice the publication dates)
1) (W09 9/1 p. 30)
"...the Bible promises that soon the earth will be a physical paradise."
2) (W83 3/1 p8)
"The difficult time all faithful Christians are now having is soon to end, for we are rapidly approaching a new, happy era. We are on the threshold of "a new heaven and a new earth."
3) (W52 12/1 p709)
"...now, by occurrence of every detail of the great sign Jesus gave, we know that we face the imminent end of the present world system."
4) (W50 3/1 p67 par1)
"The rapidly approaching battle of Armageddon makes the matter of praising God increasingly urgent for survival."
5) (W50 9/1 p286 par14)
"Shortly, at a thief-like hour, the Supreme Warrior for truth and righteousness will make himself known to all his opposers in a language that they will understand, the language of cosmic forces that will speak destruction to them."
Of course, this all depends on how you define soon, threshold, imminent, rapidly, and shortly!
(Credit goes to another JWN poster, whose nickname I honestly can't remember. My apoloties to him/her.)
if its right what the watchtower say and the new testament is only for the 144,000, then where the hell does everyone else fit in then?.
why do the other witnesses even bother?.
surely jesus sacrifice and the new testament are written for all professing to have faith in him?.
A couple of scriptures that are familiar to most Jehovah's Witnesses...
(Matt 4:4)
“Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah's mouth.”
Man includes all humans. Every utterance includes all the scriptures.
(2Tim 3: 16,17)
16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
All scripture is obvious, it includes both Hebrew and Greek scriptures. Are we to believe that only the 144,000 can be a ‘man of God’? Certainly not. Without all the scriptures, the man of God cannot be completely equipped for every good work. And which 'good work' is most important to JWs? Is it not the door to door preaching work? Who does most of that, the annointed? No.
if you could ever meet a celebrity, who would you love to see?.
Herb Alpert. Remember his Tijuana Brass days? Very talented, made great music, hugely successful. The quiet super star.
A couple of examples:
here is why, even though i no longer agree with most of what the gb/wt/jw's teach, i still feel especially close to all of us who were apart of this group.
born in or converted.
we all have had the same life experience of being raised in a over bearing mind controlling cult.
I feel a strong brotherly connection to many people here, even though I have never met anyone in person.
Some may be short, curt, a little rude at times, but that's just like a regular family. And certainly the acceptance here is miles ahead of that in the Watchtower.
what reasons was given why jehovah looked down.
too earth and said, these are the people that is doing.
my will, they are unbalance, sorry mean unblemish.. they may not get it right for the first 100yrs, but they.
