Christmas Origins VS. Watchtower's 1914

ok sooo this of course has nothing to do with each other but the reasoning is beneficial for critical thinkers.

christmas is one of the most popular holidays that has spread throughout the world.

what one can think is that this holiday must have its significance, yes greatly influenced but in order for something to be so influenced it has to have ground of truth and honesty behind it.

Christmas I found...farther roots then the 3rd and 4th Century. Its origin dates back to 202 C. E!

The Watchtower will say that the Great Apostasy began right after the apostles died, at the very end of the 1st Century or early in the 2nd Century. The belief is, the apostles acted as a restraint against apostasy, and after they were gone apostasy flourished.

So, if Christmas dates back to 202 C.E. they will still say it is the result of apostate Christianity, which had been building for 100 years by that time.

The pyramid connection to 1914 is very interesting.

steven unthank is still the acting prosecutor (and that's why he could not comment on the case on the"dialogue" program), and all 5 cases are still before the courts.

the crown informed the court that the office of public prosecutions are "acting as a facilitator at the moment"; and that the police investigation is "quite well progressed"; and that the police are awaiting response from the department of justice.. .

A question here.

Does anyone know the Society's strategy in removing the sign? Is it to make it appear that the Traralgon congregation no longer exists?

I can see from web photos that the sign is indeed gone now.

Why hasn`t the office of prosecutions taken over this case from the outset ?

Why is it left to a private individual to bear this responsibility ?

Those are the same questions I've had. One relpy I got a couple of months ago had to do with the legal system being fairly jammed, and prosecutions are an expensive drain on taxpayers. I'm not completely satisfied with that answer since the protection of children should take a high priority. Otherwise, why have the law in the first place?

Apparently the police were involved before Steven Unthank, but after a brief investigation they decided not to prosecute. Now, thanks to Unthank pursuing the case, it seems to be getting much more police attention, and a more in depth investigation. I take this as a positive sign. I am hoping for some guilty verdicts in the end.

Recent C.O. visit: Bad news re: U.S. English meeting attendance

visiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.

he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.

after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.

"...the national average meeting attendance for English congregations is around 75% of publisher cards in the file."

I'm surprised it's that much. It was worse than that for years before I stopped attending, in my little town with 2 English congregations.

I remember in the pre-1975 boom, meeting attendance was always way over 100%.

"...push yourself to go even though you're dead tired..."

Push -- that's the problem. The Watchtower doesn't know how to lead. People are on to Watchtower misinformation, and they will only get wiser to it. As more people learn, meeting attendance will drop even more. Cracking the whip harder will only back fire.
