Very nice musical rendition of Watchtower excuses. Now I've got the 12 days of Christmas going through my mind!
i'm sure we're all familiar with the crazy excuse that the watch tower society leadership came up with to justify their nine year period as a un ngo (non governmental organization).
amazingly, this seems to make perfect sense with watch tower apologists, who don't stop for a moment to ponder the following:.
you don't need to be a un ngo to use the un libraryif it was so innocent for them to hold un ngo status just to use the library, why did they withdraw their status when the issue received media attention?that aside, we are now witnessing the unravelling of fresh scandals to hit the society, most notably:.

The question is - what excuse could it possibly concoct as to why it didn't comply with such a simple law?
In response to the UN scandal, I believe the Society made the excuse that 'the requirements were changed,' and implied that as soon as they found out they disassociated from NGO status. (In reality the requirements did not change.)
They may try the same tactic with regard to the WWC Act, claiming it didn't apply to them, but then it was changed.
Or perhaps they will say the law still doesn't apply to them, but "to be a 'shining example' to the world we decided to comply anyway, and doesn't this give us one more reason brothers to align ourselves with God's clean, earthly organization today!"
Regarding the toxic waste, they may say it was perfectly legal to dump at the time, therefore they are not in violation. Their responsibility to avoid 'ruining the earth,' whether legal or not, will be ignored of course.
Spin meisters never run out of something to say. And followers who refuse to investigate and think for themselves will will be happy to swallow all of it.

Love your posts Cedars. You always seem to hit the nail right on the head.
The library response by Watchtower was probably the most ridiculous excuse I have ever heard. It's what a child would say. I don't know if there is anything that can top that.
Whatever the Society comes up with it will involve some serious spin, and likely something about staying off the internet, and probably something about 'God's clean people' being persecuted. JWs themselves, most of whom won't know one iota of truth regarding the matter, will be in complete denial and say 'they make that stuff up to mke us look bad.'
One elder I know once said to the congregation, "Never go on the internet and look up information about Jehovah's Witnesses because all you will find is pure garbage." I guess in this instance we did find 'pure garbage,' in the form of toxic waste.
well here i am in the uk cold and windy but happy to see 'home' for a few weeks.. bought me and ipad to keep in touch.. was greeted by my family like i had never left all active witnesses and all aware i no longer believe, they have the blood thicker than water attitude.. my oldest sister tells me that the elders were 'asking about you' and that she accidentally said i would be visiting.. keep in mind that i left 17 years ago and they are still waiting to see how they can de-humiliate themselves for what they did and i guess they will never give up.
i sat there thinking, shepered the flock?
what is it about elders and getting even and revenge?
Ok, this is funny. If you get any feedback through your relatives, after the elders come up empty handed on the 20th, let us know! I cant imagine why they think they can track you down and get you to meet with them after 17 years. Unreal.
and so it's back to work... on monday, jan. 9th!
for those of you who rejoice with me (the greatest of love and peace to you!)...
i am just a tad saddened.
I am truly sorry if my presence and participation causes you ... ummmmm... undue (IMHO) concern or consternation.
Congrats on getting the work! I didn't always agree with everything you said, but I wasn't all that consternated by it either.
whistleblower watchtowers dump.
today i added a new article to my blog sharing the whistleblowers letter to new yorks department of environmental conservation (dec) disclosing watchtowers pollution sites and incidents related to it.
my article is titled whistleblower watchtowers dump and is available at: http://marvinshilmer.blogspot.com/2011/12/whistleblower-watchtowers-dump.html.
I've written a blog article on this at the following link...
Congratulations Cedars, your new blog site looks great! I'm sure I will be a frequent visitor.
Question, How does one sign up to leave a comment there? I scanned it quickly and couldn't find it.
i am having difficulty locating the recent printed statement that jws should follow the gb even if they think they are wrong.
would someone please let me know where that is?.
jt.
i've heard posters say that the wt sometimes changes original publications when they reprint or add them to the cd.
i guess to cover their tracks or something.
can anyone give me specific examples of this happening?
Nahum predicted trains; more from The Harp of God.
In the chapter "Our Lord's Return," paragraph 405 explains the difference between modern transportation and that before 1799; horse drawn vehicles vs trains, planes, and automobiles. (1799 was thought to be the beginning of the last days.)
In the original 1921 edition of The Harp of God the following paragraph, 406, says...
"God's prophet designates this same time as "the day of God's preparation". In Nahum 2:1-6 the prophet records his vision of a railway train traveling at a high rate of speed, as another evidence of the day of preparation for the establishment of Christ's kingdom."
In the next edition of The Harp of God (1928), the same paragraph leaves out the train forecast and says...
"The aforementioned inventions are related to 'the day of God's preparation' during Christ's presence. --Nahum 2:1-6"
(Verses 3 and 4 of the Nahum citation seem to be the key train references.
3 The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots flash with steel in the day of his preparation, and the cypress spears are brandished. 4 The chariots rage in the streets; they rush to and fro in the broad ways: the appearance of them is like torches; they run like the lightnings.)
So, did Nahum forsee this...?
it seems that the wt is guilty of illegally dumping printing chemicals (or as they like to say "ruining the earth") in upstate new york.
read the full articles from the news sites below.. "state officials are investigating chemical pollution found buried at an upstate new york property owned by the jehovah's witnesses organization.
Condemning others for things you practice.
I am learning that this is standard Watchtower behavior.

However, it is in the CD
Curious here, I wonder why they dropped it from the reprinted volume but left it in the CD. Any ideas?
