  rick simons, candace conti's attorney, will be interviewed on the six screens of the watchtower conference phone line this evening.

  there's a good chance that candace will join in, but that's not set in stone.

  the host of the program, rick, told me to tell everybody that he is learning how to calm down and to do better on these conference calls.

  the court documents indicate that the $28 million is to come from the following sources;.

  kendrick (perpetrator) 60% = $16.8 million.

  wtb&ts of ny 27% = $7.56 million.

  When Sir82 posted that breakdown, it was early in receiving information about the judgement. Since then there have been posts suggesting the original compensatory damages ($7 million) are to be divided between Kendrick, Watchtower, and the Congregation, but that the entire $21 million of punitive damages would be paid by Watchtower.

  The MSNBC article said this in the 3rd paragraph,

  "The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ legal entity, is responsible for the entire punitive damages amount and 40 percent of the compensatory damages, said Rick Simons, attorney for the plaintiff. Sixty percent of the compensatory damages was assessed against Jonathan Kendrick, the man accused of abusing her."

  Of course news articles can be wrong too, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Watchtower is on the hook for the whole $21 Million in punitive damages.

  Thanks for this information InquiryMan. I can't read the language but words like 'Candace Coti,' and any form of the name Jehovah, which all of these articles contain, are easily decipherable.

  And this headline says alot, Jehovas Vitne må ut med 167 millionar kroner etter overgrepssak. That's a lot of kroner!

  Along with Barbara Anderson's post about this story being published in England, it's very nice to see that this news is now World Wide!

  Despite that, the worst happened. This shows how unqualified the elders are to handle child molesting cases, and how misguided the Society's methods are. They all thought everything was just fine, while a child's life was being ruined.

  Regarding the break down of how the punitive damages are paid,

  This what I was given to understand and until I hear differently, this is what I'll go by. If I'm not correct, I'll post the new information.

  1975 for deniers.

  most of today's jws were not members in 1975 or in the 9 years prior to 1975, so they were not eyewitnesses to what really went on during that period.

  i was a pioneer in that period, and i was an eyewitness to what went on.. those jws who are still active today and who were around in that period will typically say it was the "brothers" who "ran ahead of jehovah" and "read more into" the 1975 prediction than what was actually stated.

  Actually, the magazine you cited (Awake! 10-8-1966) says something pretty close to what you quoted.

  How Much Longer Will It Be? (article on p17)

  6,000 Years Completed in 1975 (subheading p19)

  Then, paragraph 7 says,

  "In what year then would the first 6,000 years of man's existence and also the first 6,000 years of God's rest day come to an end? The year 1975.* This is worthy of notice, particularly in view of the fact that the "last days" began in 1914, and that the physical facts of our day in fulfillment of prophecy marks this as the last generation of this wicked world. So we can expect the immediate future to be filled with thrilling events for those who rest their faith in God and his promises."

  The words are only slightly different from what you quoted, but the meaning is the same!
