  Hecce: It is possible that the two persons at the end of the sign are the publishers, they have been instructed to stand away from the carts; not to scare away the interested people with their presence

  TheWonderofYou: Why should a nice smiling person scare somebody? Thats absolut stupid thinking.

  Maybe not so stupid at all. As Hecce said, it's their 'presence,' not their 'faces,' that would scare people off. People could be scared away by someone's presence in the sense that they don't want to be engaged in conversation about religion or they don't want to have to hear a pitch by someone looking to make converts, not because the 'smiling faces' are frightening in themselves.

  RUSSIA: (5 April 2017) Jehovah's Witnesses hearing under way

  the trial has begun.

  the crowd on the street (see photo) is now inside and the gallery is packed.. yesterday jehovah's witnesses presented a written legal argument - "objections to the administrative claim of the ministry of justice of the russian federation" - to the supreme court of russia which, in paragraph 254, argued that if the ministry for justice liquidates and bans the activities of jehovah's witnesses then this will force individual members to renounce or abandon their religion for fear of persecution.. download legal argument (russian).

  About the JW Russian action

  what i don't get about the russian petition action:.

  watchtower launched at march, 21 the petition action.. in the instructions they write it can take 14 days for postal arrival in russia.. on april, 5 they expect legal clarification from the supreme court.. so, conclusion: the letters will arrive just around the day of clarification.. conclusion: this action is planned for media impact only.

  if it was to make judges think, (what they don't do on a petition cry), .

  The same source mentioned that the Russian branch has already planned an extensive underground Plan B, in case the April 5 decisions goes against them. And this underground activity of JW's is what bothers me the most.

  Can you say anything about what the 'Plan B activity' will be?

  i've been thinking about this the past few days and curious what the honest consensus is here just for fun.. show of hands,.

  is the governing body.... a: completely sincere.

  they really do believe what they teach.. b: somewhat sincere.

  I agree all the leaders - Russel, Rutherford, Knorr and Franz *knew* it was made up BS.

  Does that include the current GB members too?

  with all the emphasis on hierarchical succession in that wt, , what ever happened to mentioning of the refreshing, liberating "rotating of positions" period, the time of great increase?

  I merely wanted to point out how odd it is, that an arrangement, that would have served to broaden the base, and ferret out latent talent, would not be mentioned in a shake-up article like that.

  The rotational arrangement was wrong, S V.

  comment: It was wrong only from the standpoint of wt's goal to establish an iron-handed hierarchy. From the standpoint of the mag. studied, it would have broadened the base of skilled brothers with hands-on involvement but it exposed too many superfluous second rate holdouts., among other things.

  When I said the rotational arrangement was wrong I meant from a Biblical point of view. Watchtower tried to make a connection with the Bible at the start of the rotation, but it was weak, and later reversed itself in the 1983 Organization book.

  C: Completely insincere.

  At one time I thought they were sincere, but Geoffrey Jackson changed my mind when he testified before the Australian Royal Commission.

  He remarked that the Governing Body were simply "Guardians of the Doctrine." Have you ever heard the GB define itself that way? I searched the term 'guardians of doctrine' in the searchable Watchtower CD and got zero hits. I've never heard the term before, nor seen it in the literature.
  

  Yet he said it so easily, as if he has said it before. I have come to believe that it's an inside joke among GB members; they realize they are the entities that Jehovah's Witnesses really worship. The acronym is G.O.Ds.
