  hi everyone, i got the news that the lawsuit against the watchtower for the child abuse issue has been accepted in quebec(canada).

  that means it can proceed further.

  it is a first victory.

  Don't forget, you had asked the question "Why was there only one witness to abuse? The answer is obvious.

  The point of your response here isn't very clear, but you do raise an important issue regarding a Watchtower double standard. According to Duet 2:27 two witnesses are not required in the case of sexual crimes.

  27 for he found her in the field, the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. (American Standard Version)

  If there was no one to save an adult victim of rape, who cried out for help, then there was obviously no one there to be a second witness. Despite that the rapist was to be put to death (v 25, 26). It is clear that other kinds of evidence were brought in for consideration, but Watchtower only accepts the testimony of two witnesses to catch a child molester.

  To detect those other kinds of evidence you need professionals such as the police, but in almost all cases Watchtower refuses to contact any authority.

  Watchtower's double standard is that the Organization claims it's hands are tied by the Bible and the two witness rule, while completely ignoring another part of the Bible.

  I realize that this whole child abuse issues exists because it is easy to use against the Watchtower.

  Ah, the persecution card again. Forget about the terribly abused child victims but weep for poor Wathtower for hiding the entire sordid issue, as if the whole world is out to get them.

  Why was there only one witness to the abuse?

  Because child molesters are typically very cautious, sometimes even grooming their victims over a long period of time. Do you really think that such a person will molest a child in front a second witness? (The child victim is one witness, but his/her word isn't good enough for JWs.)

  Exclusion – or disfellowshipping, as Jehovah’s Witnesses themselves refer to it – must be seen as an expression of love, according to the organization’s own magazine “Watchtower”:

  – Family members can show their love for the congregation and for the wrongdoer by respecting the disfellowshipping arrangement, it says.

  This is precisely what Lisbet Christoffersen finds problematic because she believes it is at odds with the individual’s religious freedom.

  – Not only for the religious community, but also for the family and all members, one vanishes into thin air. You become non-existent. It is not recognizing the individual’s religious freedom, she says.

  While the Watchtower organization insists on religious freedom for itself, it denies the same religious freedom to it's own followers. One can be disfellowshipped and shunned for simply disagreeing with a concept or an interpretation. Of course JWs will say that df'ing is the "loving" thing to do, per their Organizations controlling guidance.

  It is said that A.H. MacMillan was in line to be the Society's president after Judge Rutherford's passing, but he declined - what is the proper term - the nomination? There was no G.B. per se in those days, even though the Organization today hints that there was, but the Presidency was the most powerful position in the Organization.

  I'm thinking that to get this scanned, every page, and posted, someone had to have had it in their possession long enough to do the work ahead of time. It's as if the leakers are one step ahead of the Organization!

  who could have anticipated entire watchtower study articles devoted to child sexual abuse?

  an appreciative shout out to all the people who worked tirelessly over so very many, many years to call the organization to account over its defiantly self-serving policies and practices on responding top allegations of child sexual abuse.

  last saturday morning, i answered a knock at my door to see a man standing next to a young boy who handed me a pamphlet posing the question, "how do you view the bible?

  would you say it is (1) a book of human wisdom?

    I had the same feeling. It sure seemed smooth, very smooth...

    1. the OP remembering exactly where to turn in the KIngdom Interlinear Translation (p 23).
    2. remembering the name of the Catholic monk who devised the pronunciation of 'Jehovah' and the year he did it (Raymundus Martinti in 1270)
    3. knowing instantly which scriptures to turn to (Eph 4:4, Luke 1:19, Rev 7:15)
    4. having the presence of mind to work Bob Dylan and The Beatles into an illustration.

  Most of us would have to have pre-studied carefully or used detailed notes to present this. Oh well, maybe the OP has a photographic memory that is called into action when there is an unexpected knock on the door.

  It actually reminded me of some of the experiences presented by Watchtower in the publications, which are often just to much to take literally, even though they are much less detailed than this.
