  annual meeting 2019—talks and 2020 year textthe governing body members are nothing but a bunch of weasels.

  here is a talk by jeffrey jackson on how the governing body ''the slave class'' has remained spiritually awake over 100 years and alerted its members.. he looks back on the ''faithful and discreet slaves'' false dates over the 100 years: '' but at times, we look back over 100 years, and there were times they got excited about a certain year or time, and the end didn't come at that time.''.

  he makes the comparison between the ''slave class ( who disappointed others when the end didn't come ) to a barking watchdog ( who in his enthusiasm barks at nothing in the middle of the night and wakes up the owner).

  Wrong question. The right question is 'Do you leave a religion when it lies to you?'

  I remember an article, either from the Watchtower or Awake, that explained the same thing - if an anointed person leaves the Organization or is DF'd, then returns later, that person is still anointed.

  'elders do not discourage victims or their families from reporting abuse to the police.' - it wasn't always that way, that's only recent!

  And I wonder if those words are sincere, representing a genuine change, or if they are simply meant to mislead the general public. Even though Watchtower reps say words like that, elders can still have their tricks to discourage it in private, such as saying "you wouldn't want to bring reproach on Jehovah's name, would you" - what is said behind closed doors in a Kingdom Hall is often different from what Watchtower and the elders say publicly.

  I suppose time will tell but I am doubtful.

  These judgments seem to keep getting bigger and bigger. It couldn't be happening to a more deserving organization.

  I hope the $40 million holds up, or at least a big chunk of it, on appeal.

  A New List of the J Versions and Where to Find them

  hi!i am doing a very long and exhaustive study of the "j" versions, based off the new study edition of the new world translation:https://www.jw.org/en/library/bible/study-bible/appendix-c/divine-name-new-testament-2/.

  this list has about 300 sources, mostly bibles, that the jehovah's witnesses have used to "justify" their insertion of "jehovah" into the new testament.i am doing an excel spreadsheet of where to find digitized copies of these j versions and then some notes on them.. they contain some really interesting renderings, some that would make a jehovah's witness's head spin!for example, in j29:the original aramaic new testament in plain english (an american translation of the aramaic new testament), by glenn david bauscher, seventh edition, australia, 2012which you can find here:.

  "Jehovah himself was born??"

  Nice catch. JWs believe that Jehovah had no beginning.

  Plus, saying that Jehovah is the Messiah tends to support the Trinity belief, since Jesus was the Messiah. The problem is that JWs clearly believe that Jehovah and Jesus are two different individuals.

  They (the GB) should have left that one off the list of 'J Versions', since it raises a bigger problem than it solves, and as a result tends to shoot them in the foot.

  10 thumbs up to LongHairGal and TonusOH. Isn't that the way it always is with Watchtower - they promote whatever idea suits them at any given moment.

  I was actually raised in a church that had leaders who wore plain clothes. Not all churches have clergy with the fancy robes and such.

  Yes, absolutely, elders are clergy.

  JW elders have much more control over the lives of JWs than most clergy have over their flocks.

  "...the Witnesses have no paid clergy"
  

  Not all clergy are paid.

  Watchtower claims no clergy simply to set themselves apart from other churches, appearing on the surface to be different. It is simply a sales pitch, and a pretty tired one at that.

  I take it your primary language is not English, otherwise how could you be so highly educated and speak such terrible English?

  I try to avoid the door knocking yes I'm a big chicken in that area!
  Lol when I look up Bible scriptures I use a standard King James Bible. Just because it's the most common Bible out there.

  You don't sound like a Jehovah's Witness at all.
