Rick Fearon should apologise for accusing faders of being cowards
by cedars ini hate doing this type of thread.
none of us are perfect, least of all myself, and i would rather focus any criticism on the watch tower society for damaging people's lives.
however, in the short period since i've been a member of this forum i've noticed one member in particular deteriorate in his behaviour into the type of individual who threatens to undermine the credibility of the entire website.

Bloodplates... Can it Really be Justified?
by mrbunyrabit ini was thinking about something.. getting a blood transfution.. thats wrong right?

I think you are right about that. One day in the distant future the whole blood issue will likely be gone, like the former bans on vaccination and transplants. It seems the organization is in a state of transition now over blood.
In the future Witnesses will probably be in denial that the blood teachings of the past were actually part of the Watfchtower belief system. Will they write it off to saying something like "Some had misunderstandings in those days, because the Society always said it was a conscience issue?" We shall see.

What is latest WT quote on donating blood ?
by Phizzy ini no longer have access to wt lit or cd, as i burned all my bound volumes one day in disgust, and don't have a cd.. so could someone kindly post the latest on donating of blood, not simply that it is forbidden, but the latest where they say why they hold this position.. if i remember rightly, it was based entirely on the o.t injunction about "pouring out" the blood of a slain animal, but i need to be sure before i question jw's on this.. many thanks in advance, if you are able to help..

finally awake said,
These were the most recent mentions I could find, although none actually spell out *why* it's supposedly wrong.
Perhaps your second reference did touch on the reason why; Questions From Readers, w00 10/15 pp. 30-31, said...
"...such collecting, storing, and transfusing of blood directly contradicts what is said in Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Blood is not to be stored; it is to be poured out—returned to God, as it were."
I think this is what Phizzy suspected would be the reason.
But, to go from draining blood from a killed animal in the field prior to eating it, to making it a medical injunction that says blood should never be stored for any reason, as the Watchtower does, is a huge leap. It is just plain wrong.

And they are such nice people...
That is true, most JWs are nice people, but the Watchtower Society itself is not nice, and it is the Society that you will be subject to from now on if you join them. Keep asking questions when you notice an issue, and demand good, solid answers from them. They like to put you off without providing good answers to the difficult topics. Don't fall for it.

"That means that witnesses are in fact profiting from other peoples sins.. Because those other people are going to lose ever lasting life because they donate blood.. but witnesses can use that blood?"
You make a good point here. JWs are allowed to accept blood fractions (it's a conscience matter), and all blood fractions are derived from someone else's whole blood donations. Witnesses can't give blood, but they can accept fractions from other people's blood.
"How does that work?"
It works for no other reason than the Watchtower Society says it works. It is not Bible based. It's one of many contradictions in the Watchtower belief system.
Welcome to the forum. You have noticed an issue that seems to go right over the head of most JWs.

Djeggnog said,
"Since what your wife wants is to be scripturally free to remarry, she need only inform the elders of your infidelity today...she would then be free to remarry today."
I don't quite follow this. Where would the second witness be? For that matter where is the first witness?
I'm unclear whether Karter has explicitly admitted infidelity to his ex. If he has, is that enough to negate the 2 witness rule? Would it now come down to her word that he admitted infidelity, and the elders would accept that as enough evidence?
If so, why would the elders require a letter in the first place? (Unless the letter was stictly her idea, with no mention of it from the elders. The post doesn't make it clear whether the elders asked for it).
In any case, Karter should not submit a letter admitting anything. His request that he be given a letter from the elders guaranteeing they will not disfellowship is reasonable. Of course they will not comply, but neither should Karter comply with a letter to them. Without getting a letter, I would not give a letter. It it's a stalemate, then so be it.

Prov 22:6 is a scripture that Jehovah's Witnesses have never come close to fulfilling.
" Train up a boy according to the way for him; even when he grows old he will not turn aside from it."
It's as Billy said,
And that is exactly how they manage to lose 2/3 of their born-ins.

Hi Janice, and welcome to the forum. I noticed your post did not take. If you are using some versions of Internet Explorer there can be problems, but it seems that Firefox works pretty well here.
Others can give better advice I'm sure.
