According to him, no one here was forcibly dragged into the hall and tied to chains to listen. 'Thats a cult' in his words.
Oh dear. No one is forcibly dragged in to any cult. They are deceived by the cult leaders, lured in, to get them to join. No one does that better than Watchtower.

"ah yes Dad, do you mean those times when Jehovah made those mistakes and errors?"
by stuckinarut2 inso...while chatting with my ultra "spiritual elder" father on the phone this afternoon, i couldn't resist using that line!.
i had sent him that video of the recent convention showing brothers and sisters dancing to the "kingdom song" and waving their illuminated phones and arms in the air like some sort of revival church concert.
(perhaps someone can post that link to that thread again here?).

LURKERS: IF WATCHTOWER IS HOLDING YOU HOSTAGE, BY FEAR OF LOOSING FAMILY. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLETS! HIT EM WHERE IT HURTS ($$$)!
I have to mention how much I agree with this, wholeheartedly. If you aren't giving Watchtower your money, and if you aren't actively trying to make converts, you are not helping Watchtower one bit.
I certainly understand people not wanting to give up family and their entire social structure by leaving, so they stay in only to maintain relationships, but they are out and non-supportive in ways that really count.

When I sent that clip along with an actual pentecostal revival meeting, and asked what was the difference I got blocked.
It certainly does look and feel more like a Pentecostal revival than a Jehovah's Witness assembly (except for the music).

Does a jw have to miss counting time for 6 months to be inactive
by blondie inhow many months consecutively does a jw have to miss turning in time to be inactive?.
-
ScenicViewer
Way back when, if I remember correctly, a person was considered inactive as soon as the person didn't report any hours.
Missing for 1 to 5 months is irregular.
Missing for 6 or more is inactive.
Slim and Morpheus - two of my favorite posters - did get it and agreed!

Matthew 24:34 not fulfilled in the first century
by Jules Saturn ini was discussing with an elder the generation teaching and telling him when jesus christ says in matthew 24:34 “truly i say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen.” he was referring to the generation from the first century in 33 ad and these events that were to take place took place with the destruction of jerusalem in 70 ad.
now the elder tells me to go back to a few verses to from verses 29-33 which read: .
“immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened,+ and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.+ 30 then the sign of the son of man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief,+ and they will see the son of man+ coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Thanks to Vanderhoven7 for providing an alternate explanation to that of JWs.
That all of these things would happen "immediately" after the other things described is definitely a point of contention to the JW interpretation. To them immediately means 2000 years later and counting, and that's a problem.
