There are a few places where the Monarchs gather in California, but the Pismo location is close enough to make a day trip of it and be able to spend plenty of time there.

The Carrizo Plain National Monument is in San Luis Obispo County, California, west of Bakersfield. The San Andreas Fault, a well known earthquake fault, runs through it and has contributed to it's formation.
There is a soda lake in the middle of it, which is surrounded by hills that in a good year will be covered with wildflowers. Last year was a very good year, and I went there 3 times in the Spring.

I don't remember the year but it was well after 1974, so they had hardened again on talking to or helping a DF'd person - it could have been related to the issues with Ray Franz.

he has pointed out that it is particularly serious to deprive a religious community of its registration.
Watchtower will lose about $1.5 million per year if it lets the Norwegian verdict stand without appealing to the ECHR. However that amount of money is a drop in the bucket for Watchtower. They have much more to lose if they go to the ECHR and fail to win.
They would have to be crazy to appeal - but then we are talking about Watchtower leaders!
