Because people think he should be smart. Hence why they use the word scientist.

>> How can you learn something if you aren't taught it? You say you know about evolution. If you do then it was taught to you.
Yeah, I worded it wrong. The point being was this:
>> He accepted evolution as fact without researching it.
(and he goes on to do this)
I still don't think a lot of us would say we were JUST taught evolution even if we were, technically, because we also researched the evidence behind it. So we would say we were taught, but we ourselves also researched. And that is what we would say to someone if we were explaining our beliefs.
Does that make more sense?

My mom just gave me this article to read knowing that I support evolution and I am an atheist / agnostic (she doesn't understand the difference or non-difference, so I just say agnostic), so I looked him up and found that thread. It's a shame that experiences like this cement people's faith, as it's not really something you can debunk, unless the WT misquoted him or made him up, which right now doesn't seem to be the case. All I can say is that he (a scientist for pete's sake) really hasn't done his research. Look at his experience. He accepted evolution as fact without researching it. That's not scientific right there. Even before it said that in the article, I saw that he said he was "taught" evolution. None of the atheists here would say that. The truth of evolution was not one-sidedly taught to us, but we learned it and researched it ourself. Religion is taught, not learned. Evolution should be learned, not taught.

So again, did anyone recieve a response from him? I'm going to send a simple hello email him in Italian (Google Translate) and see if he responds.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses know what happened to them in 1954?
by Terry in1954: the year jehovah's witnesses stopped worshiping jesus christ.
watchtower charter: http://www.jehovah.net.au/books/1945_cha..._wtbts.pdf.
did you know that from 1879 until 1954 the writings of c.t.russell, j.f.rutherford, nathan knorr and the watchtower's own charter all agreed that jesus christ was worthy of worship?.

Where can I download the 2012 District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses, "Safeguard Your Heart"?
by garbonzo ini realize the wts may be taking any down on youtube, but if anyone has camera footage for the convention, i would appreciate it if you can tell me, i'll pm you details on how to upload it to my server, or you can upload it to mediafire.
you may need to learn how to split files.
you can download hjsplit which is free and it will split your file into parts because mediafire's maximuim upload is 1gb.

Or if anyone knows where any links are to download / watch I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks.

Also, JWs do not teach blood as a conscience matter. They will dissassociate themselves from you if you willfully take blood. They believe you would no longer be one of Jehovah's Witnesses if you did that and all the consequences that comes from that. That is proof enough. They are coercing parents to not give life-sustaining blood to their child that can result in death. This is tantamount to manslaughter. There is no hiding for an organization that does this!
A legal case with people that know what they are doing needs to be made against the WTS! I have no doubt that they will win.

Blood Policy: Punishment?
by garbonzo ini have no idea what happens to those who take blood transfusions.
this i don't think, is never made clear at the meetings.

if blood is forced on you, it's a conscience matter
What's a conscience matter? lol The blood is already in you... so what is there to consciously decide on? lol
Thanks for the clarification.
