This touched me by making me cry the first time I heard it. I was still feeling a bit raw from my divorce. Saw her perform it live at Bestival on the Isle of Wight a few months later and now it brings back happy memories.
have a fear of growing old and be vain about how you look.. struggle to make decisions.. be a nobody who can have power over others.. have a mental disabliity.. have a physical disabilty who wants a cure.. be normal, but have parents who are j.w.'s..
have had bouts of depression.. have a fear of being wrong.. the above are based upon people in the kh.
Always carry a selection of tracts about your person for those informal witnessing opportunities that happen exactly as on a convention platform.
Keep a magazine or 5 on the parcel shelf of your economical hatch-back so that you can count your time when passers by in car parks stare through the rear window.
Never do any stretching excercises that could be construed as being yogic 'cause practising yoga will let the devil into your head.
Not own any books, CDs, games, DVDs etc with the word 'war' in the title.
Only ever listen to Kingdom Melodies whilst driving about in the ministry. Radio 4 is acceptable for the news and shipping forecast but you turn it off as soon as Women's Hour starts. Bloomin' feminists, usurping headship, it's not right!
Speculate wildly and spread any gossip on anyone who's announced as DF'd or DA'd, 'cause they must've done something bad, right? You can't see why anyone would just want to leave of their own accord and miss out on a pet lion.
So sad. Reading stories like this just prove to me that the bOrg is no more spirit directed than say, oh, a tin of boot polish 'cause if they were, then all the abusers masquerading as 'loving brothers & sisters' would be properly dealt with by both the elders and the authorities.
our dc coming up this weekend, i hated them and the only thing that kept me going ,was the reward of booze at the end of each day.my then wife, zelous judgemental pioneer, you know the type, not only droned on about my drinking, but about everyones drinking, a real barrel of laughs not.
anyway, one year we went to another dc, in newcastle, all seemed to be going well, until lunch.we went over to a hotel for lunch,i ordered my fresh orange and food, a few minutes later, the local jw,s arrived for lunch, they had all pr-ordered drinks, alcoholic drinks, and not one drink but many !!!
they were buisy getting boozed up for the afternoon session, way to go, i was about to join them, when my wife told me " dont even think about it ", anyway she was outraged, but there they were ,with thier little convention badges, men and women, young and old, getting merry, they dont even do that here in scotland, !!!.
It seemed like every year, straight after the DC, someone in my congo would get a PR for getting drunk afterwards and we'd have a local needs talk about it. I remember one year, it was an elder's son that got PR and this particular elder actually gave the LN talk all the while staring furiously through his half moon specs directly at his son who was flushed bright red with embarassment.
ok everyone i am going to canada soon, vancouver to be exact, i was wondering if anyone can recommend places to go??
i love sight seeing and i want to take advantage of my time there (almost a week)... so what would u recommend?.
also i am planning a 1-2 week trip to the uk in october or maybe december, i know they are many uk posters here.... also, i want to take advantage to the max of my time there.. i want to go to those hidden treasures in the country side... maybe 1 day or 2 in london, but i want to see the wonderful uk country side... want to stop by scotland and ireland if possible... .
Laugharne in West Wales, where Dylan Thomas did most of his writing, is one of my favourite places. It's just so tranquil, I always feel relaxed whenever I visit (and sometimes you'll spot Pierce Brosnan fishing in the estuary). I have some photos on my Facebook page, PM if you're interested.
I just played it. I like it, my kids like it, and my partner said it was alright and sounded like a couple of the bands he records (he's a sound engineer). So that's 4 thumbs up from us.
Well, it's the big DC this weekend in the city nearest me. My old congo will be there as they're based about 80 miles away. Found out from my Dad that my Mum is going but that he is not. I'm really starting to think that there's a lot more to his inactivity, but that's another (long) story for another day.
Anyways, I was out today with my family and had to stop off at a Morrisons supermarket, just under 6 miles away from where the convention was being held, at around 6pm this evening and couldn't help but notice a few stereotypical JWs. One particularly obvious one was mid 30's Mum in floral floor length dress and short-sleeved linen jacket, son called Jacob approx 7 years old in a Next 3-piece smart outfit, plus an elderly sister in a full length wool coat (it was quite hot, so that just screams of being sat in a drafty stadium in the shade all day!) who they were obviously giving a lift to and was tagging along begrudgingly. They had bags of stuff to make their packed lunches for Sunday. I didn't notice any convention badges on anyone but it was SO obvious to me who they were and where they'd just come from.
A brother in my old congo in his late 40's had been divorced and DF'd twice. Had kids with both his first 2 wives. Whilst DF'd for the 2nd time he met a "Worldly" girl in her early 20's who's only a couple of months older (she'd publically admit that she cherished those few months) than his oldest kid. He married her and convinced her to study. He got reinstated, she got baptised and *BINGO* he then gets visitation rights back to see his kids 'cause his exes had no reason to shun him anymore!
Happy Birthday for Thursday honey. You sound excited, as well you should be!
We've been celebrating birthdays left, right and centre here as 4 members of my partner's family have their birthdays in the first 9 days of July. We've been to 1 house party and 2 restaurants this week. Today is my partner's birthday so me and the babies have spoiled him rotten. I even baked a big cake mid-week to share with his Nan. It's so much fun!
I've had 12 birthdays out of the bOrg and I now have a custom which I've done for the past 4 years running - I get to eat dinner at Nando's!
There's lots you can do really. If the weather's nice a BBQ or picnic is ideal (at a beach, or forest/country park setting maybe?). While the kids are at school do something totally self-indulgent. Visit a nail or brow bar, get a massage or facial. Sit in a coffee shop and eat the yummiest looking slice of cake. Go browse all the shops that take your fancy but that you never normally get a chance to look at when you're with family.
I hope that you have a lovely day on Thursday whatever you decide to do, and that the bag that cantleave has got you contains something very special.
