How do you kow Ed V.? I know him quite well. He's a really cool cat. I have much respect for him.
His wife is great too.

How many of you were bethelites?
by writerpen ini've been posting here since february now, and i'm just beginning to get familiar with alot of the posters.
i've learned that i cannot rely on the profile picture, since they change often.
so, now i focus on the screen name.. anyway, in an effort to be more aware of some of you, how many served at bethel fulltime, and what was it like?

Interesting Book I Started Last Night
by dobby ini started an interesting fiction novel last night entitled "the rapture of canaan", sadly i don't have the author's name as i type this the book is not with me, but it is one of the oprah books.
my sister talked me into getting it because it is a story about a girl who grows up in an extremely controlling cult started by her grandfather.. the book is an easy read, (i just started last night but am half way done), and has interesting bits that remind me of the jw's.
it's good for a sunday afternoon, paper read, feet up, favorite chair, favorite drink, (and if you are lucky rain against the window pane) and the best part- no meeting to go and to no watchtower to study.

Bethelites - did they read the Bible in a year?
by jack2 inas many of you know, bethelites are "required" to read the entire bible within a year when they serve there.
my question, to any who served there or who may know any who did, is: did they really read the entire bible in year's time?
frankly, i wonder how this "requirement" could be met, seeing how long the scheduled work hours are plus the other things that are expected of them.

Yes I read the entire book in a year my first year. This is in harmony with the theme of one district convention.
"lovers of God's word"...and in harmony with that theme we were required to write a letter to the teaching committe
saying we had completed our Bible reading. Usually, when asking other new boys and long timers that letter
consisted of the following
Teaching Committe,
This is to inform the teaching commitee that I have completed my Bible reading for the first year. This is inded
an excellent provision by the Governing Body

As much as you may not want to believe. Most of em there do read the Bible the first year. But is nothing more
than a speed reading. You can usually identify the new boys becuase they walk around with a Bible, reading
it at every opportunity

Defensivness

hey everyone,.
i have never been a jehovah's witness, but i've dated someone who is and i have a few clients who are.. my comment and question is this, i've noticed that witnesses who aren't even active get very defensive when asked a question or a comment is made about the religion.. did any of you find yourself before you left getting this way when people asked you about the religion.. restorebeauty.

A day in field service
by dsgal in7:30-too early to get up on a saturday morning but the co is visiting and i must show up to make our cong.
9:00 - arrive at kh, smile and say "good morning" to everyone (even though i'm still half asleep).
he visited had 69 people when he was there.

Protest and Demonstrations

being in nyc presents many causes to speak out against.
many folks outside of nyc may love/like rudy g, the formal mayor/dictator of the city, but he was the subject of many protest rallies while he served for two terms.
