I am done with this site for now, although I have learned to never rule out returning...crazy things happen.
I appreciate the hard work of our host, Simon.
I am now writing for http://Morons.org, as "Logorrhea." Stop by some time.
Peace,
Mike Pence

hi people!
i was wondering if you all could take a moment to give me some advice.... since leaving my congregation and regaining clarity, i have been contemplating disassociating myself.
i know it seems like a silly thing to fret about, but i think disassociation might give me the closure ive been looking for.
I chose to disassociate myself and have never regretted it. I have seen many friends try to maintain increasingly tense and meaningless relationships with loyal JW family. In my opinion, any relationship based on a lie is a waste.
Don't do it because it is their rules, do it for your own sense of closure.
anyone know if a support email list exists for victims of jw sexual abuse and their families?.
thanks,.
mike
Yep, and it is a wonderful thing. But, I had in mind a mailing list where people can all talk to each other.

why call pedophiles "sexual terrorists?
" look into the eyes of a young child who has been a victim and you will see why.
look into the eyes and life of a grown women whose life has been scared from childhood, and hear about the hell she has had to work through.. if you could see my eyes, you would see the eyes of experience - you would see a man who, as a 5 year old boy, watched his sister raped by a pedophile - and who knew the feeling of being totally helpless.
I took a smoke break (though I don't smoke) with a workmate, and he said that he thought that the term "sexual terrorism" was distracting, and that the point can be made without resorting to such terminology.
I think I agree. Dictionary.com defines 'terrorism' as:
"The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons."
But, as always, your thoughts are entertaining and well developed.

Good thoughts, Amazing.
Still, I wonder if some might not cringe at yet another attempt to employ the term "terrorism" in order to promote ones agenda, no matter how honorable that may be.
Still, I may steal the term for my next article, if you don't mind. :-)

i have a theory and i'd like to put it to the test here.. i would be willing to bet that the posters who post a great deal probably commented more than the average publisher at the meetings.. i know it's true in my case.. on simon's forum we have the whole range of 'publishers-' from those that comment a lot ---down to those that are just there.
the lurkers.. what about you?.
lisa
All of the time. I always got kudos for my remarks, too. I tried to make the meetings interesting, which earned me a lot of praise, and a lot of abuse.
i am happy to announce that my story, "the murderer at your door" has been published on the web site kuro5hin (pronounced "corrosion").. kuro5hin is an important web site that is considered one of the top web news sites for the net savvy.

Yeah, there was a lot of discussion, all of it very educational.
There are many people who agree with what was written. People who disagree generally vote the story down. High fives and atta boy comments are generally considered bad netiquette in such forums, so those who have a beef with what you wrote are generally the ones who comment.
It is all good. Having people challenge your point of view is very educational. I want to write more about the sexual abuse issue, and it helps me to see how a disinterested but intelligent audience responds to such issues.

Excellent idea. I will do that next time. And there will be many next times.
