That's a really sad sight.... Honestly I wish I had been there.. elderly people just melt my heart, I do not have the heart to try to refute what they tell me, I just listen.... after all, most of them have spent all of their lives in the borg... is all they have... :(

Just saw an elderly JW man...
by zengalileo inhe was walking with such a slump, dragging his feet, carrying a jacket, magazines barely visible just hanging from his fingertips.
if body language has any validity to it, this man was deeply discouraged and depressed.
i remember that slump too.

Are JWs the worst restaurant customers?
by Alfred in(a little background info before i ask my question...).
my sister-in-law (non-jw), who manages a popular chain restaurant near a kingdom hall, just found out that my wife and i have recently faded, so she decided to get something off her chest the other day... you guessed it: she wanted us to know that jws are the worst customers ever!
she then told us some really embarrassing stories about how jws would request a table for 15 to 20 people (after a sunday meeting) and then (when the bill came) some of the jws would start deliberating amongst themselves on whether or not the waiter was diligent or not (to justify the low tip he was getting anyway).

I have been reading this thread and all i can say is "all it sounds so familiar!!"
I remember when I was still in we use to go to this chinese buffet right after the meeting (Sunday's was at 9am) and this JW couple, who are loaded by the way, would take FULL advantage of the oisters bars, to the point of eating 3 full trays between the 2 of them... until one day the chinese lady came over to them and told them "thanks for your visit, now please leave!" she literally scorted them out the door!!! i was mortified!

Weird things JWs can't own or wear
by lilbluekitty inalso posted on the yuku forum.. i thought it might be amusing to make a list of things i remember when i was a dub that we couldn't have or own or wear.
(some of these things vary by where you live, in other places dubs have them, it just depends).
obviously the list goes on forever, but feel free to add things.

1000% agree w FS.... JWs ARE controlling with ATIRE... if not, please explain to me how come wearing pants is a no-no for women when going to the hall, but is ok for the men?? And please do not give me the "women should dress like women" excuse, because if the JWs are following the 1st century Christians then men should wear robes just like them.. no pants!

Sad situation unfolding on FB
by Mickey mouse inthere are reports on one of the facebook ex jw groups that a 19 year old girl who disassociated herself last week was physically attacked by her family and so she tried to commit sucide by shooting herself.
she's in a critical state in hospital.
i don't know all the details but it would appear that she had endured sexual abuse.. please keep her in your thoughts.. .

I heard from relliable sources this is a HOAX.. some sick woman who was crying for attention and created this whole story... There is nothing about it in Google or any news source.. is really sad someone can be so sick and twisted as to play with the feelings of many within the exJW community... :o(

why JWs doesn't celebrate birthday?
by vientotz ini'm so curious, why they're not celebrating their birthdays?
is it just because jesus don't celebrate it and it's not written in the bible that they celebrated the birthday of jesus?
or is it written in the bible not to celebrate birthday?

Also, because the WT frowns upon ANYTHING that may take the glory and attention (worshipping) from them!! So, B-days are considered self-worship days (wrong, wrong, wrong! in the WTB$ world)
It feels good to be out.. because I am DOUBLE devilish!! I was born in Halloween!! hahahahahah!! so, now that i am out i celebrate my B-day AND the Halloween!! :)

Halloween as a Jehovah's Witness Kid
by Badfish inwhat was your experience like as a kid on halloween growing up in a jw family?.
i was raised in a jw family but never got baptized.. my father used to make me and my sister put old awakes and watchtower's in the trick or treaters' bags.
we would say: "i don't celebrate halloween but here's a treat for you!
