"Satan's Star" Re-examined
by JWStruggle ini put on my blog recently an article reviewing the evidence regarding whether the star of bethlehem was guided by god or satan.
as we are well aware, this is a "pet point" of the witnesses and assists the wt viewpoint with regard to christmas and all things "pagan".. .

Thats great but the government cannot prevent you from donating property to an exempt organization. Homes are donated all the time for such purposes. Nearly one third of the city of Boston is exempt for various reasons. If cities could stop that they would.
The only violation that could be compelling is safety, which could be enforced by the fire marshal not a zoning regulation.

Anne, that is wonderful, but the constitution is not that conditional. If you want it to be there is a process for amending it. Currently for a law to violate the 1st amendment it has to pass the test of Strict Scrutiny. Meaning that the Gov must have a compelling governmental interest, i dont think this law is that compelling.

Happy Dad,
The vids were nice, I got misty for the children. That being said, his dad does not make it so I can live free. No one has tried to invade the US and the best I can tell they would fail if they did (lots of guns to shoot anyone that tried)
Our freedom is not conditional on soldiers fighting overseas. If that was how freedom was won there would be Afgani's shooting your neighobrs and occupying your house to win their freedom back in Afaganistan.
Freedom is won at home not abroad. If you want to feel more free, fight for freedoms here.

That’s great you can have all the silly zoning laws you want. Unfortuately when they go up against the constitution they loose. Religon + Right to Assemble = Almost Bulletproof

Depends on how virginal you are....if you are a convert then you lost your Jesus virginity and therefore ineligible for white. Cream will be fine. If you are a born in you can pick white.

I here by anoint smiddy, with all the rights and privlidges that it entails. You are now entitled to as many anti-pyscotic drugs as your body can take. You also get to give as many crazy answers during the watchtower study as you would like to give. Once a year you get as much wine, and bad tasting crakers as you can eat. You may also buy a pretty dress because you are now one of the brides of christ.

Forbethel, I have never met one but there are JW splinter groups. Christiandelphians are one of them. Honestly if you need someone to give your life meaning go be a Unitarian Universalist. They dont believe in the trinity....

Was Jesus a Buddhist Monk?
by skeeter1 inone of the things that most bothered me about the bible, is the narcasist, lunatic jehovah who orders killings of women, children, starts wars, etc....and the advent of peaceful jesus.
some people say that jehovah was a killer to protect "his" people, but couldn't a perfect, all-knowing god have found a way better then to walk on the earth and tell abraham to kill his first born son?.
on my spiritual journey, i now see how the earlier gods (roman, greek, pagan) are intertwined into the old testament.

I think the more interesting question was not is Jesus Buddha, but did he exist. I do see a cross over between the two, but that argument is made about Jesus and Horurs. Does that mean Jesus was egyptian? I dont think so. I doubt that he existed as a figure in history.
