Emailing my sister RE: Child abuse conviction - NEED HELP!!
by What Now? inso the other night, my family was together and my dad brought up the recent child abuse conviction for the society.
big surprise, my sister hadn't heard anything about it, so of course she got right on to the jw.org website and emailed me the link to the watchtowers official statement.

Do NOT be mislead, False Prophets will not inherit Gods Kingdom yet THAT is what some of you were!

"new lite" = time ran out... has anyone noticed how the wts keeps quoting genesis 6:3, the scripture on a generation lasting 120 years?

Could it be that Satan was just slandered? Afterall wouldnt you be mad if 1/3 of your perfect angels followed him instead of you?(What does that say about Jah if 33% of his angels didnt follow him) Wouldnt you be mad if your creation convinced 100% of your humans, that they could have the knowledge of good and bad?

@Greybeard If Satan killed Jobs family, and his 'best friend' Jehovah knew about it and didnt stop it, what does that make Jehovah? He is a bad friend at the least, but more likely guilty of murder because it was part of a bet he had with Satan. Jehovah could have resurected Jobs 10 children, but he didn't. He could have stoped it, but he didn't.
Show me 'god's' moral high ground.

Was the Verdict of the Candace Conti lawsuit a Win-Win for the WTS?
by rip van winkle inwhy did the wts not try to settle this lawsuit before going to trial as they had so many times previously?
was it presumptiousness on the part of the society's lawyers and gb?
had this been settled it would have hardly caused a whimper.. it got me to thinking that although the verdict of $28 million is unheard of, it may actually further the wts to make their claims that they are the only true religion.. reason being- if the monetary award is overturned then they will say it was jehovahs will.

I dont think that they will win much of a verdict reduction. Compensitory damages with a 3x multiple for punitive damages has been held up.
The real issues as far as I can tell was did the WTS have a duty of care in the case, because it happened before manditory reporting was law. They also have a clergy privlidge issue that I dont think is a winner, but could win.
Overall I think this is a Lose-lose. The facts of the case stand on their own. Candace Conti was molested by a man that the WTS knew about before it happend. Legal issues aside, they still protected a predator. Getting that info out is key.
