  at oral argument on august 13th, the court requested additional briefing from candace regarding the punitive damages being contested by watchtower.

  from the case law cited in the brief it is demonstrated that the award of punitive damages is on solid legal ground.

  although the court had until august 25 to render its decision as to whether the present judgment will be altered and watchtower granted a new trial, the court docket indicates that the court has entered an order already.

  I heard that the appeal is NOT going well for the Watchtower.

  I would agree, but we are still at the very early stages. You still have the CA Court of Appeals, the CA Supreme Ct, and the US Supreme CT.

  That is several steps to go through, and at any of those point the verdict could be overturned or greatly reduced. I think Candace has a good chance of winning but I think BOTR had one good point that we have yet to hear of on an appelate level. That is whether or not the WTS and the Fremont hall had a duty of care. If any of those courts think that they did not have a legal duty, this whole thing could be turned on its head.

  The trial court already ruled on this, so at this point I doubt the judge would reverse himself. We have at least a year or two to wait and find out.

  Yeah I wouldnt trade places with Job. Who would want to be a bet between God and Satan. Some friend God was to Job!

  Mythology doesnt work well if you dont have a cool story. Slave to prince, or rich then poor then rich. They are standard formats for telling an exciting story.

  Have you ever wondered if the bible has been totally "rewritten" and the real message Jesus taught was love.

  sometimes when i play the devil adovacate and play the pros and cons of the bible as it is i often wonder what if the bible really does support homosexuality, premarital sex, masturbation, and other things believers "cringe" at the thought of.

  maybe jesus really only taught us to love people and not spend so much time debating religion.

  i know some "evagelical christians" that have so much "hate" in their hearts against others that don't believe as they do it makes you wonder where is the christian love?

  Good thinking. Look closer and you will really start to see how the bible was added to and amended. No NT manuscript exists before 150 AD, yet we are suposed to be impressed by Jesus saying Jerusalem will be destroyed in 70 AD. I can do that too. Let me write about 9/11 today and pretend I wrote it in the 70s.

  the jw pedophile database would be an amazing thing to have, but to obtain it illegally would prevent it ever from being used as evidence and would hurt the case of many abuse survivors.

  So long as the goverment does not come up with list illegally it is ok for them to use it. They cant encourage anyone to do anything illegal either. But once it is out there, they can use it as they please.
