Dateline---That was It?
by Lindy inwell, i am bucking the general consensus here that everything went well on dateline.
i thought it was fine as far as it went but looking at it through the local jw eyes it will not get what you all and i hoped for.
the show didn't put proof on all the cases we all know about.

Lindy - Rome wasn't built in a day. Nor did it fall in a day. Same goes for the WTS.
Surely you weren't expecting this to be easy? Maybe the drones won't flee the tower, but alot of people will think lots before joining.
The JW HQ were scared enough to NOT speak in person. That - is progress.
This is only the beginning. NOW we get really noisy about it.

NOW is the time to get noisy about it. I didn't cheer, or celebrate. I cried, and sighed with relief. There are still children to protect, older ones to help, and lyin a-holes like Brown to be exposed.

All the remarks about Dateline have already been made. Wow. Two minutes into the show I broke down. Too much came back. But it's about bloody time a respectable show ripped open the secret hell that IS the WTS.
I hope all those drones who filed into court to support that known pervert are ashamed of themselves. I'm glad Bill got the wire tap of the phone call to the legal dept.
I'm relieved that the cap has finally blown off on this one - but I'm not about to celebrate. There are still lil ones who aren't being protected, and older ones living in the hell of elder-enforced silence.

Barbara Anderson Disfellowshipped
by silentlambs inas of 1 pm today barb anderson was notified that she has been disfellowshipped in writing by the judicial committee in her congregation.
barb was df in absentia at a second hearing that was declared after she successfully defended herself against charges in the first hearing.
home office came back with further instructions to make it stick the second time around.

Barbara, honey, hold your head very high. What they've done is tantamount to cowardice. You've stood up and spoken for what is right, and I know that your conscience knows that.
Please know that there are far more people than you are aware of that your brave stance has affected for the better. You have spoken for the lambs who were forced to silence. You gave them voices.
The elders will have their judgement day Barb - and I hope they are judged as harshly as is possible. I hope the public judge them - and spare none.

Dateline couldn't have come at a better time.....

i rarely write long posts, but i need to set up the scene for what is to come... two years ago, my sister was pregnant.
it was great that she and her ms husband were socializing with me and my husband.

ofcmad - I'm very glad you posted this. I think it's SO bloody important for people to realize that BOTH women and men abuse children sexually. Society has this fantasy that women are all-loving; all-nurturing; all-protective. Bullfeathers!
For this reason people gasp when they hear that women have abused or killed children. It's all utter nonsense. Both genders abuse and kill children - and it's an equal crime - and equally hideous.
I was abused by both genders - so I speak from experience.
I really hope you are able to be of assistance to your family on this one. Amazing though, how the elders dream up road-blocks eh?

Could I Make It As A Professional Gambler?

The people here care about you. No one is going to encourage you to take a road that is a dead end. (and it would be a dead end for anyone)

Do you consider yourself an ex-JW?
by Introspection ini'm gonna go for the direct approach here.
it's kind of strange to identify yourself as an ex- anything, to define yourself using a former identity as a point of reference, one that is no longer.
in some cases you might use it to clarify your relationship, (i'm jane's ex-husband, or whatever) but again it gets weird.. i mean we don't think of ourselves as ex-kindergarteners or something do we?
