  the congregation was always being told to root out any person who was engaged in wrongdoing.

  if it was a best friend or even a family member, you were to inform the elders so that they could look into the matter and investigate any possible sin.

  the elders pretty much told the brothers that those knowing of a sin and not reporting it were as guilty as the person that actually sinned!

  Nope. I don't believe in judging others. I had enough to clean up in my own head to bother with the activities of others.

  Now, as a Mom - I HAVE called the police on 2 occasions when I overheard the kids talking about a huge fight planned at a certain place that may include weapons. Even they don't know I called. But that is something I couldn't have on my conscience if it occured and a kid was injured or died 'cos I kept my mouth shut. The police DID show up and broke those 'gatherings' up before harm was done btw.

  Masculinity? A man who does not have a beer belly or is listed in the obese section. Along with this, one who displays manners and a healthy amount of self-confidence, humor and insight. Cleanliness goes without saying - but I said it anyway.

  apprehensive.

  while i wholeheartedly join in with the backslapping and thundering applause being accorded the relentless and selfless efforts of bill bowen and his silentlambs lobby and other men of integrity and conscience---some still, some no longer, associated with the "christian" congregation of jehovah's witnesses--- in exposing the vileness and hypocrisy of certain of the wts's policies, i am moved to hoist a separate and personal tribute to a woman who has turned out to have more integrity and character and courage and conviction than most people with whom i've ever been acquainted and, more on point, than virtually any of the generally good and decent jws i ever knew in my 30 year association---male or female, regardless his "rank" or his/her jw "pedigree.".

  Bad Day

  i'm posting here because i can't find any other forum to post to about this....plus you all know me and you are a great group of people.. i'm having a really bad day today.

  all of a sudden it seems to have "hit" me that i had cancer.

  i've been all clear for about 3 months, but all the while i've been terrified of it returning.

  Sirona hon - I wanted to drop you a note here to urge you to get that tooth taken care of. I've gone months, and perhaps even a year trying to find out why I've been getting severe sinus and ear infections. I went to an ENT and had a sinus xray done. I've been on so many antibiotics that I can't stand it. I went to the dentist and I have a molar in the very back -upper right that is abcessed, and it's been causing these infections this entire time. It's run me down. I just finished a course of antibiotics and it wasn't enough. It's already affecting my ear and sinus again and I'll be starting another course again because I can't stand the pain. It spreads fast now.

  You don't need this on top of what you are already dealing with.

  i love both the article and the song, and thought id share it with the board.

  its full of wisdom and reminds you of things that are often forgot in the buzz of everyday life.

  On you - definitely numbahs 3 and 4. Not everyone can wear a beard and look great. You can. Go for it!

  My hubby just grew a goatea (sp) and I absolutely love it. (thot I would hate it but alas - I love it)

  Why do the Governing body remain unknown?

  why do the governing body remain unknown to witnesses in general?.

  i used to think that the fact that the gb promote themselves (personnaly by name) in the magazines and don't name writers of watchtower articles, was a sign that the governing body was humble and meek.. but why did they take this policy?russel and rutherford were certainly not unkown.when did the transition happen?.

  my theory is that this annomimity is use to make the magazines look like they are not aurthored by men.if an article appeared with the writers name , witnesses may choose to reject what is writen as they can see it was writen by a man.but not nameing the writers makes it hard for witnesses to identify the writers as just human like them, and gives the impression the magazines and books have a divine source.. any other ideas?

  sickness

  i have decided to include you all in every step of my shock pregnancy!

  after boasting about not having sickness this time and being so relieved, i woke up this morning and have felt terrible aaaaaaallllllll day.

  i need some sympathy here.

  I hope the sickness subsides soon. Please take the time to rest. Find someone to watch the other children so that you can rest.

  I was terribly sick with my first. Throwing up was like clockwork. Sometimes ginger helped, but rarely.

  If you find yourself going downhill - seek out your doctor's help. Don't try to do it all when you need help.

  lotsa hugs and sympathy - been there twice.
