my youngest is studying law.
browsing through one of her books i came across a chapter freedom of association.
it covers the well known categories, colour, race, religion, sexuality etc.
Way to go!!!
hi everyone, i am going through the dec 15th study edition of the wt thanks to a tip-off that this issue is now available online at jw.org.. in the article "guided by god's spirit in the first century and today" on page 25 there is a bizarre argument put forward by the society about the difference between spirit-anointed and spirit-appointed.. this touches on a subject that i have often wondered about, which is this.
why are spirit anointed brothers and sisters (memorial partakers) not given positions of oversight in the congregation by default?
i know it sounds like a stupid question, but please think about it for a moment.
I would love to hear the testimonies of the "annointed ones" and hear how they new they were selected too. It appears to me that during certain period, before they came up with the other class, every JW as going to heaven ... mostly white americans though ... see I am latin and I remember growing up in my country, which by the way back in the 70s was very "anti-yankees". and seeing mostly white americans in their publications made me wonder and not really liking them.
thanks to 'gayle' for bringing our attention to the fact that the december 15th watchtower has now been uploaded to jw.org.
it doesn't take long to reach the first juicy bit on pages 8 and 9, this time regarding higher education:.
it would be good to ask, am i taking to heart solomons example of treasuring divine wisdom?
Actually the Watchtower is a good example of tax evasion ... and telling lies, I mean "untruths" - very suspicious use of this word, why don't they use LIES? Perhaps in the future they plan to say ... we didn't lie, we did "unTRUTHS" kind of meaning that they were still truths but not lies.

I don't get it ... are they using Solomon as a good example.
"So the Lord became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the Lord God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not keep what the Lord had commanded."
Looks to me he did not truly treasured divine wisdom.
Didn't he have 700 wives and 300 concubines?
i've noticed there are a few excellent threads on here about sunday's 9/11 watchtower study.
my own analysis of its more blatantly farcical claims (including that of apostates being "mentally diseased") can be seen here.. what i really wanted to know is - what has the fallout been?
has it created any horror-stories within people's families or homes, etc?
OMG! I HAVE HEARD IT ALL IN THIS LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!! From RagingBull: "Oh...during the announcements, the brother made it a point to mention that the machines can be pulled forward for those in wheelchairs so that they can access and see the buttons. (I lie to you not!) $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ "
You guys are going to drive me crazy ... LOL!!!
Next will be announcements for the blind ...
is it their door-to-door incessant preaching?
is it their view on blood?
is it that the religion itself is simply often misunderstood?.
"Simply misunderstood?" Explain further please.
have awakened to what fooo-king sh1t (sorry!
) i've been living in these last years.... well since i was born.... i am left if quite a weird state.
i have some weird friends.... jws.... i used to think they were normal.
I liked the movie you mentioned and the Da Vinci Code too ... things like that can make you wonder and start thinking about the possibilities, it was this type of thinking that made question a lot about that org since I was a child which make living in that environment emotional hell. You will go through many stages while being deprogrammed from that cult, which is normal, just be strong and brave and face the feelings and emotions you will experience because if you keep pushing them down you will get sick or explode into a nervous breakdown or something like that. So listen to the advice from mature people here. There are some that were and are still elders, ex-bethelites that can really help you. I have a plaque on my wall that reads: Faith Hope Love ... don't let anyone take these away from you, because for many years I was robed of these and my life was miserable.
how much influence do you believe the demons can exert on people through such media?.
My answer would depend on what your beliefs are. Demons exists only in the spiritual realm, so you have to believe in this in order to be talking about it. In my case, since I am a Christian, and the bible and Jesus talk about demons, I believe they exist and that they may influence the world by many means, satan is called the prince of the air or ruler of the authority of the air, "the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient" well, I am not disobedient.

Welcome to the rest of your free life!
Where to go from here? I know a way that I didn't know before, and it was not "where to go", but "whom to go", but everything in due time and I think one of the first things you should know is that many of us have felt the same way you do. I even once stood against false accussations, I was only 14 years old. Read about cults, brainwashing and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and be open to seek medical help, trust me you don't have to suffer alone, I did, for years I didn't know about sites like this and all the things that confirmed my feelings on the Watchtower Corporation. Something that counseling helped me realized is that spirituality had nothing to do with religion. So don't let the Watchtower robs you of the right you have to have God in your life. Do not leave God behind, bring that concept with you.
