the gods of the magic books of religion have been proved as useless in the modern age, treating women as second class citizens, gay people not deserving of basic rights, and we're all going to be saved, lol, if we don't let injured persons have blood transfusions, it's time mankind had total free range at our destiny , we can do it on our own, let's forget looking to god's, we now have the technology and know how to do it on our own, the time for god's has gone, they had their own agenda.. it was nothing to do with the human family, they just like playing with us like ants!!!.

let's have a big round of applause for our scientists and technologists who work fearlesly for more cure for our ailments, whilst god's does nothing but blame us for things they would be easily able to cure!!!.

Actually, the way I see it ... it is humans doing these things to another human ...

It amazes me how little children learn to lie for example without anyone teaching them to do it ...they sense they are in trouble and will point to another child, or hide, or start crying ... it is in us to know good from bad from early beginnings ...

I see nowhere JWs being encouraged to exercise their own judgment and stay home if things are not safe.

One thing is to be in danger/hated because of declared persecution against Christianity or the preaching of the Gospel ... another thing is to be foolish enough to put oneself in dangerous places when you already know that you may be kidnapped, raped, robed and NOT because of the Gospel but just because criminals would do it to ANYBODY .... of course JWs will claim (and will be told by the CORPORATION) that it was done because they are GOD's chosen ones ... LOL!!!

YES!

I feel so much for you my dear child (I can be your mother b/c of my age you know) ... in the sense that I can relate what you are going through, at least I was already an adult when I realized all the Watchtower CORPORATION deception and I made independent decisions as an adult. I am glad you are dating, what you're doing it is just normal for someone your age (feel very happy for you).

Like you, I spent not weeks but months reading everything ... it was like something was driving me to read as much as I could not only things that unmask the Watchtower CORPORATION but other books/writings about Christianity, God, ancient Israel history, early Christians, etc, etc.

In my case I had already realized that the Watchtower was a commercial CORPORATION making money like any othe CORPORATION after visiting their headquarters in NYC ... but since I was an "atheist" (back then) already it didn't bother me at all, I went there just to take my mother ... she was like Alice in Wonderland ... I was more like looking for a place to throw up ... really I got physically sick when I saw their projection charts going years in the future and here they are telling everybody that the end is around the corner ... I saw a lot of other "business" stuff like Clio awards and the cold attitude of everybody working there really was the cherry on top ... it wasn't until my young JW niece ran away from her JW home to come to live with me and told me that she had been sexually abused by a female pionner for years and 2 circuit overseers that used to stay in her house that I started discovering a LOT MORE about the Watchtower CORP ... since I was raised in that cult from the time I was 3 years old I thougth that sexual abuse was only among Catholics ... little I knew that per capita the problem is worst among JWs ... from there it was like opening a pandora's box ...

You are so young and it will be good if you go to college, this will help you a lot. I will pray for you, and as a Christian now, I can tell you that the fact that the Watchtower CORPORATION is not "the truth" as they have dared to call themselves, it doesn't mean that there is not truth when it comes to God and Jesus. I hope that once the blindfold is fully taken from your eyes, you will still want a relationship with God, a personal relationship with Jesus. Free yourself from the Watchtower CORPORATION but not from the Creator. Get a different bible to read, always pray, accept God's gift of salvation which is based on grace not works ... read about how to worship God in Spirit not with the flesh, the flesh will never be able to please God, read about who Jesus really is, ask God to show you the Son, be free, be only accountable to God, give your heart and mind to him NOT the Elders or a CORPORATION.

I think now more than ever you will need the support of a Higher Power, I was scared to death when I realized the lies of the WTC, I thought I was dealing with the devil himself but in the middle of everything I saw the truth, or it was revealed to me, which is not a set of beliefs or doctrines, the TRUTH is a person - JESUS! He is the way to the Father NOT the Watchtower Corporation.

Like you I never felt anything in commom with JWs as I was growing up, I was there b/c of my parents, I didn't now anything else. I was kind of rebelious, I got baptized when I was 26 ... and really it was my mom scaring me with armageddon and stuff like that ... but it took me another 14 years to break free from that cult's indoctrination ... I hope you don't have to wait that long ... I never read anything contrary WT teachings until my niece came to live with me, I was already 40 years old ... all of my life I felt depressed, suicidal, gosh I wasted so many years of my life ... but God is faithful and He has given me beauty for my ashes ... I am very happy person now. Free!

instead, the company will focus solely on its digital encyclopedia and education tools.. the news is sure to sadden champions of the printed word, but britannica president jorge cauz said the move is a natural part of his company's evolution.. Britannica usually prints a new set of the tomes every two years, but 2010's 32-volume set will be its last. Instead, the company will focus solely on its digital encyclopedia and education tools.

The news is sure to sadden champions of the printed word, but Britannica president Jorge Cauz said the move is a natural part of his company's evolution.

"Everyone will want to call this the end of an era, and I understand that," Cauz says. "But there's no sad moment for us. I think outsiders are more nostalgic about the books than I am."

In truth, Cauz says, the death knell sounded long ago. Though the name "Britannica" calls the print sets to mind, Cauz says they represent less than 1% of the company's total sales.

"The print set is an icon. But it's an icon that doesn't do justice to how much we've changed over the years," Cauz says.

The online version of the encyclopedia, which was first published in 1994, represents only 15% of Britannica's revenue. The other 85% is sales of education products: online learning tools, curriculum products and more.

That's not surprising to Michael Norris, a senior trade books analyst at Simba Information, who says reference books have taken the worst hit with the rise of digital.

"People still buy, read and love print books. But the relationship they have with a novel is very different than what they have with a piece of information they need," Norris says.

"This has been the reality of reference texts for years now," Cauz says. "Updating dozens of books every two years now seems so pedestrian. The younger generation consumes data differently now, and we want to be there."

Will people pay for Britannica? That younger generation is accustomed to finding content for free via Google ( GOOG , Fortune 500) or that other online encyclopedia: Wikipedia. It's unclear whether people will be willing to pay for a household subscription, which costs $70 per year, or an app version for $1.99 per month.

"Google's algorithm doesn't know what's fact or what's fiction," Cauz concedes. "So Wikipedia is often the No. 1 or No. 2 result on search. But I'd bet a lot of money that most people would rather use Britannica than Wikipedia."

Britannica will start offering more free content to entice potential subscribers. But Cauz doesn't expect Britannica to replace or even overtake Wikipedia. He sees the situation as "different senses of responsibility."

He adds: "Wikipedia is a wonderful technology for collecting everything from great insights to lies and innuendos. It's not all bad or all good, just uneven. It's the murmur of society, a million voices rather than a single informed one."

As a result, Cauz says, consumers are craving accuracy and are willing to pay for it.

"We have an important role to play," Cauz says. "I think Wikipedia sees us as a relic of an old era. But facts always matter, no matter what form they take. Our mission hasn't changed, just the method."

In a nod to those changes, Britannica is relaunching its site in three weeks to add more social connections and interactivity.

Cauz says he celebrates those changes, as well as the end of the print set -- which was first published in Scotland in 1768. In fact, Britannica is throwing itself a party on Wednesday.

"We're going to have a cake in the shape of a print set to celebrate," Cauz says, laughing. "Is that morbid?"

With all due respect ...OMG @ the following statement:

"As long as you don't recognize them as such, I don't see why interacting with the U.N. or other political organizations on a limited basis should be such a problem."

This way of reasoning stuff away is the same that drives JWs to defend pedophiles in Court ...

This is so wrong at some many, if not all levels of society, and I am not even talking religion. There is something in society called: Ethics !!!!

The Bible designed to stagnate people and ruin lives

and i mean the whole bible, from start to finish.. first, the fear factor.

many that are deeply into the bible are afraid that, if they quit or disagree with it, they are going to suffer forever (destruction or hell).

they are also promised a major reward (life on earth forever, or heaven) if they obey.

I've found out that when you believe other people's interpretation of the Bible this ruins one's life ... the Bible is a book to be read personally and when you search from your heart a spiritual door of communication with God opens up. The Bible has a living message that somehow resonates with certain spirit in you and teaches you about every aspect of your life, molding the spiritual creature inside... and not everybody has this Spirit ... in Christianity you have to be born again to have this Spiritual relationship with God. Sometimes when I read the bible, it is like reading in 3-D, I am reading, I am looking at the words but something else is talking to me, instructing me, teaching me, making me a better person, making me realize my life written in those pages. The flesh cannot discern spiritual things.

she neglects and abuses him and he is sick and elderly and now is addicted to pescription pain medication.

yet she continues to lead the cngregation by her "exemplary theocratic behavior" by being a regular pioneer and carting the sisters around to every place they need to go.
