If you ask for it, God will lead you to the right Church (a group of believers) for you. May not be one, perhaps different ones. I attend 3 actually - one has a great summer youth group for my children (Baptist), the other one is a Methodist close to my house for regular attendance, do outreach and missions in the community and out of town, family gatherings, etc). Then I love to go to Lakewood Church (evangelical non denominational) either Spanish or English when I want to be with thousands of believers worshipping. I respect all churches who use ONL:Y the bible and teach that JESUS is the only WAY. Sorry the Mormons,Scientology, etc. don't do it for me and other groups that focus on new revelation given to certain man in the past 100+ years ...

Health care law & JWs
by L3G inin the usa the affordable care act/obamacare has kicked in and as of the end of this month, those without paying for health care coverage thru an insurance company, unless they're somehow exempt, will have to pay an increasingly steep annual fine for not buying into the system.. so how will this affect those jws in full-time service?
is the org paying the premiums of bethelites, traveling overseers, spec.
pioneers, etc.?

OF COURSE they will ask them to claim poverty wages so the government can pay for them.

What if I am a disfellowshipped public school teacher?
by bsand20 incould a parent put in a complaint to the school district and request that their child be transferred out of my classroom because i am exjw?
if they give me the jw school brochure (do they still do that?
sorry its been 16years since i've been out) can i just tell them i'm familiar with their teachings or should i just pretend i'm new to their teachings?....i'm a freshman in college so i have still a long ways before this situation is presented, however i"m trying to get prepared for it.

It should not be a problem, you need to follow school rules on that. As far as the JW children, they will have someone in you that will understand them very well and be on their side and protect them, make things easier for them. You don't have to tell them you are an EXJW, just treat them the way you would have liked to be treated in that situation when you were their age.

I once interview a yound adult with lots of tatoos and piercing for a position as in-home Caregiver. I didn't know how to break the news to her.
In the middle of the conversation she explained the tatoos to me - she had lost her mother when she was a teenager, I felt so sorry for her, she may not know it but she had tatooed all the pain in her body, she really was covered in tatoos. I try not to be judgmental about tatoos since that day. It was such a sad story.

Black sheep of the family-my life as an ExJW
by bsand20 ini was a 3rd generation jw, half the congregation i attended was made up of my entire mom's side of the family, 2 of the 3 elders were my grandpa and uncle.
my first memory of the organization was when they announced my mom's name in the meeting saying she had been reinstated....it was 1988 and i was 6 years old....i didn't understand it then, but when i asked my mom why was she crying and why did they say her name in the meeting, she said "it's because i've been good!".
so she went back and after a period of time assisting constantly, she was reinstated.

Do any ex JW' s/ God believer's, Agnostics or Atheists believe in Karma? And WHY?
by rip van winkle injust reading a thread and the mention of karma popped up.
( it happens, lol).
a lot of people believe in karma: what goes around comes around.. some months ago, while on another exjw site, karma was mentioned and i thought it a little odd, as they are atheist.

100 Years of Rule and the 1/15 WT
by Bob_NC infirst, i cannot believe how dumbed-down and simplistic the writing is now.
we used to have study articles with substance.
the writing style now is for people with slow minds or at the level of junior high students with learning disabilities.

Troubling experience at 1 day assembly re: little jw child
by williamhconley injust had my 1day assembly this weekend.
an experience given by the bethel speaker was quite troubling and shows how jw's live in constant paranoia, anxiety and they isolate themselves from normal living.. a first grade class was having a fire drill.
everyone ( except one) lined up and stood outside away fron the classroom in the grass.
