Coyotes. They have taken two out of three of my cats in the past 10 days. I didn't know there was a coyote problem in my area until I called animal control and the Cat Protection Society looking for my cats, or I would have made them stay in at night. All I have left is a cat whom I have mediocre feelings toward. My favorite cat is gone, and I am heartsick.

Dances With Wolves-"I am Wind-In-His-Hair! Can you not see that I am your friend?! Can you not see that I will always be your friend?!" The best John Barry score ever!
OMG! I had forgotten about that, but I totally cry at that scene.
Movies that have reduced me to a blubbering mess:
The Whole Wide World (this was 10 kleenex for me, for some reason)
Untamed Heart (totally cheesy movie that gets me every time)
With Honors
Man in the Moon
(people all died in these, no happy tears involved)
Sometimes songs trigger the cry--that Peter Gabriel song about being married in Shall We Dance, and the song at the end of Pieces of April where the still shots are being shown, put me over the edge.

Jesse--"Jess-Bess," "Honeycat"
Snowy--"Snow Blob," (my mother calls him that--he is a very fat cat), "Snow-Blow"
Ryan--"Outdoor Cat," (Snowy's brother, too fat to fit through the cat door, named with the same scorn as "Snow Blob" by my mother)
Harry--my Jack Russell, the light of my life. "Harry-Harry-Bo-Barry," "Hare-Bear", and "Kissy-Boy" (named by the kennel workers at the vet.)
George--I named him after that Bugs Bunny cartoon with the Abominible Snowman--"I will name him George, and I will hug him and squeeze him and pet him and love him....." Otherwise known as "Killer" (he averages one mammal per week--mole, squirrel, chicken, etc.), "Dumpster Cat" (found him at our local convenience store,) and "Pig Ass" by the Pepsi truck driver who comes to the convenience store. Pepsi Man used to bring George cans of catfood when he was homeless, but since he's been adopted, he is fat and happy. One day George went over to say hello to the Pepsi Man, but when Pepsi Man put the catfood down, George wasn't interested (just had some Meow Mix or other such delicacy.) We watched behind bushes and heard the Pepsi Man call George "Pig Ass," in a tone of voice that implied, "How ungrateful of you to turn your nose up to free food, you supposedly starving homeless cat!" (It was still sweet of Pepsi Man to bring catfood specially for George while making Pepsi deliveries on his route.)

TALESIN, What's the name of that song you quoted? I know the lyrics but can't place the name (The Zombies song).
Sorry, maybe someone answered this? It's "Time of the Season".
I really like Steve Miller's "Wild Mountain Honey" for "trippy."

What songs stand the test of time?
by JV inseeing as i'm dowloading songs so i can blast them at the neighbour kids, i was thinking, what songs stand the test of time?
what songs do you listen to over and over again and never get tired of.
here's my list.. if you tolerate this - manic street preachers.

And my all-time favorite: Rocky Raccoon...the Beatles
OMG! I loved this song growing up. I loved that whole side of the White Album. I memorized just about every word on it. Isn't "Piggies" right before (or right after) "Rocky Racoon?" I wanted to name my first daughter "Prudence" because I loved "Dear Prudence," but my husband, who was tormented as a child for his unusual first name, adamantly refused, because of the nicknames it would generate.
Anyway, obviously, any Nirvana song ("School" and "Breed" are my favorites)
I was listening to a zillion Howard Jones songs last night; they're still awesome. Happy and bubbly and exuberant. I bopped along on the inflated therapy ball that I use as a chair in front of my computer.

What does your name MEAN?
by RichieRich inwe all are identified by our names here on jwd.

No special meaning for me, just plain Gwyneth. My given name.
My paternal grandparents are from Wales (moved to Canada in 1945 and to the U.S. in 1962), and told me that traditionally the firstborn female is named Gwyneth. I am the oldest daughter of my parents family. My middle name is Elynor, which was my maternal grandmother's name (she died the day after I was born, don't know how my mother lived through it.) As a side note, when I took Spanish in high school, we all were supposed to change our names to Spanish equivalents. ("Dave" was "David" (well, you say it "Da-VEED") and "Mary" was "Maria," etc.) There was no name that was an equivalent for mine, so I got to pick my own--and since I knew my name meant "white," I chose "Blanca."From the name of a region in Wales, which probably derives from Welsh gwyn "white, fair, blessed". -

I was just reading the post from You People Are All Idiots, where someone mentioned that the watchtower.org site comes up first when you do a google search...and it does. But I also get these little paid pre-search sites before the main stuff, and this came up. It was too funny to pass up!
