  Watchtower doctrine: Judges 1:19 (God couldn't defeat the Iron Chariots)

  this weeks assigned bible reading is judges 1-4. i have never noticed judges 1:19 before which reads in the nwt as:.

  jehovah was with judah, and they took possession of the mountainous region, but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the plain,* because they had war chariots with iron scythes.

  but in the kj as:.

  This weeks assigned bible reading is Judges 1-4. I have never noticed Judges 1:19 before which reads in the NWT as:

  Jehovah was with Judah, and they took possession of the mountainous region, but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the plain,* because they had war chariots with iron scythes
  

  but in the KJ as:

  And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

  I cannot find the official Watchtower doctrine on the meaning of this verse which says clearly that God cannot defeat iron chariots. Does anyone know of any old articles that may discuss this?

  Also, is the NWT version a deliberate mistranslation or a legitimate translation option?

  in only the short time i have been no longer lurking but also posting, i have discovered some people with situations and reactions very similar to mine.

  i guess there are different ways people get out, some do something and are outright shunned, then they may find ttatt and stay out.

  but there may be more and more like me, who are 100% mentally out, but for the reason of not losing spouse and family fade.

  Why tv.jw.org?

  hello,.

  this is a question for people with web knowledge (i'm looking at you simon :-)):.

  i'm wondering why they named it tv.jw.org instead of something like jw.org/tv?.

  On a technical level, it is just simpler to run the entire TV operation through a subdomain like this. They can route all traffic directly to the JW TV servers, and so heavy load on the tv.jw.org site would not affect jw.org itself.

  So I was reading the Questions from Readers ("In the past, our publications often mentioned types and antitypes, but in recent years they have seldom done so. Why is that?") in this issue on pages 17 and 18.

  P. 18. Paragraph 3 states:

  If such interpretations seem far-fetched, you can understand the dilemma. Humans cannot know which Bible accounts are shadows of things to come and which are not. The clearest course is this: Where the Scriptures teach that an individual, an event, or an object is typical of something else, we accept it as such. Otherwise, we ought to be reluctant to assign an antitypical application to a certain person or account if there is no specific Scriptural basis for doing so.

  If humans cannot know which Bible accounts are shadows of things to come and which are not, how do the GB work out the meaning of the parable of the faithful and discreet slave class? Daniels prophecy? Revelation? I can't believe the contradiction.

  Really appreciate your post cappytan as I'm new here myself. I feel very similarly to yourself, especially RE: 607. To read that Ray Franz (who oversaw the writing of the societies position on 607) didn't think it was based on solid evidence has on it's own destroyed my belief that the organisation is carrying out God's will on earth. 

  How I'm going to leave though, that is another question.

  Anecdotally, word in the area of the UK I'm from is that several young ones have recently 'gone apostate'. I can only see the trend of such ones searching for the truth increasing.
