Hindsight is 20/20
by Capn Jack ini have been watching this website for a while and havent posted much, but i have gained alot of insight into my own head and life.
i was born jw and pioneered and all that good stuff, didnt get out until i was 23. didnt know what to do so i started drinking and using all sorts of illegal substances.
i would talk all night to people about the 'dubs and how f****d up they are, probably bored alot of people.

Best revenge is to live your life well and find happiness. Most JWs are not truly happy. Find things to do that you enjoy, live your life the way YOU want to.
I think my anger helped me survive for a while, because I wanted to die when my abuse memories returned and were confirmed by my father's admission. The anger kept me going, but at some point, you have to let it go. Otherwise, it will eat you up from the inside.
For me, it was just realising that what they thought of me now didn't matter, because I knew they were wrong, and the people who truly love me know they're wrong too. It doesn't matter if they think I'm going to "die at Armageddon" because I know I'm not. Sure I'll die eventually, but so does everyone else. It doesn't matter if they think I'm some evil person, because I know I'm not.
And 30 years down the road, when they realise they've wasted their lives, who'll be laughing then?

Enjoy my life and be happy. I never did any of those "horrible" things that people who "fall out of the truth" do...you know, smoking, drugs, tons of drinking. (I like to drink, but never been drunk.) OK, maybe I did ONE of those "debauched" (who talks like that?!) things...I slept with my husband before we were married. OMG!!!!! *rolls eyes* I just enjoy life; live well and spend time with my honey and our dogs...I'm just happy, something I never was before.

christians are expected to follow the teaching of jesus.
among other things, jesus taught his followers to "love one another" and to remain "no part of the world.".

Did You EVER See Yourself Leaving This Religion??/

For most of my life, I never saw myself leaving. I'd shake my haid and tut to myself when people left, like any "good" JW does. But I experienced the same problem...do more, do more, do more. No matter how much I did, it was never enough; I was never happy, and no one ever accepted me. Towards the end, I stopped going to the meetings, or if I went, I only stayed for half. I started realising that I was enjoying myself NOT being there. Wasn't long before I stopped completely and left.

What languages do you speak?
by Pole inwhat languages do you speak/write/read (can be ancient ones as well)??
i speak/write/read polish, english and russian.
i know basic swedish and some survival phrases in finnish as well.

English, enough French to get by living here (although telephone conversations are still a real "treat"), and a little German (I understand more than I can speak). In Europe, they are better for one simple reason. When they are in school, from practically the very start, they are required to take whatever their native language is, AND English. Then they also can take a second language, much like we Americans took a foreign language in high school. So my cousin, who is German, speaks German, English, and French fluently, and I believe has taken another language as well.

Whats so wrong with us
by brother devoted ini have read the topic "no trespassing..." and can't keep frm asking "are you afraid of dialogue?".
i thought we were in america where we have freedom of speech, i have the freedom to approach my nieghbor oin conversation and he has the right to either continue the discussion or say "not interested" .
this whole thing about wanting to erect signs seem to cut off the freedom of speech that america says it prides itelf on...what happened?

Dialogue is an exchange of views, opinions, beliefs, and facts. What happens when someone at the door says, "Sure, I'll talk to you about what you believe if you're willing to listen to me talk about what I believe." Or, "I'll accept your literature if you accept mine." No, there is no dialogue. Only an attempt to convince other people that your belief is right, without opening your mind to the fact that there is no "right" (no one can PROVE there is a god, and no one can PROVE there isn't) and without even attempting to listen to the possibility that you might be wrong.
