What I got out of the article is the subtext in the picture....

DO NOT wear a dress with cleavage!!!

and it doesnt hurt if you are WELL in to your 30s at the wedding

and dont forget to wear your hair stringy (modest) with a limp flower hanging in it!

Oh yay! This will go in every Witness girls dream book of her wedding for sure while she hunts down her ministerial servant or above husband!

and wait!

a bit of trivia but wasnt the idea of decorating the aisle seats considered wrong previously? I remember back in the 70's being told we shouldnt do that because it was TOO much like when people decorate the pews at weddings in a (gasp) church.

ok, I think thats about it.....

i suggest taking this slowly .

.. consider the difference between taking a poll about an upcoming election and the actual vote itself on the day of the election.. the information gathered about what the vote will be is provisional.

the vote on the day of the election is actual and official.. it is the one that counts.. now, carefully ask yourself what the specific difference--if any--there is between the poll information and the election result as an identical knowledge of.

Time is a fourht dimension, and serious scientists consider it a given, eternal if you will, stretching into the eternal past and into the etrnal future, that we until our death will mve toward.

Thanks prologus, so fourth dimension - like in the novel "Slaughter- House Five".

Relating things to novels helps me.

I want to comment on this thread but feel massively underqualified.

Terry you are a great writer. I enjoy consuming your words even though your thoughts are going places mine cannot go apparently.

What did come to mind while reading your posts was that in order for what you are saying to work wouldnt all time have to be existing as "past" "present" and "future"?

Isnt there a theory that all time exists at the same time?

Ah well, this isnt a topic I know much if anything about but its interesting following along.

Now Im off to google Schrodengers Cat and learn something else thats new to me!

Jehovah's Witnesses and "winter decorations"

so how many jw's do you know that do "winter decorations" instead of "holiday decorations"?

i have a cousin that is upbaptized but very much on board with the jw's but somehow snowmen and pine boughs are okay to decorate the house as long as there is no tree.

have anyone of you heard or seent his practice?

Good thoughts!

I used to have a store and one year I got a great deal on poinsettias that a grower was selling.

(If you live in a country that doesnt have poinsettias - they are a red and green plant commonly used at Christmas that only bloom in the winter)

I banked the front of my store windows with (24 of) them.

An elders wife came along and sure enough, she had a "problem" with the plants.

My answer?

I told her that "I thought it was terrible too that Jehovah would let such a "Christmassy" plant bloom in December! "What was he thinking?" I asked.

I asked her wouldnt it have been better for Jehovah to have these plants bloom in spring instead of causing such temptation?

She was dumbfounded and that ended the conversation.

Looking back, I see more and more that I never really did fit in!

im recalling a time when i sat and circled words in a watchtower article, indicating strongly the fact that it is in fact the writters opinion.. however just the suggestion in the sentence these words are ignored.. for example.

it is our understanding.

we believe this to be the case.
