as with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.
here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.
jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".
No staying after school for projects - bad association!
No making friends with worldly kids when you live at home - unless they agree to study and/or attend meetings with you.
No decorating with corn stalks at your door in the fall - too worldy/resembles Halloween
Heres an old one that had since quite being practiced but used to be:
not putting your name on a gift at a baby/wedding shower - considered a lack of humility to show what you gave.
so i went out today with my broken leg and got accosted by an old lady, with some magazines.. it was my first ever encounter with a jw in ten years, and i had said 'i know you are jw's, i'm not interested thank you.
" twice.....then she started talking about my broken leg and how wonderful we are made and how amazing the healing process is.... and that's when it all started...."i used to be a bethelite pioneer, now i'm an atheist doctor...".
she was with me a good 30 mins, her elder husband left very annoyed but she stayed, and she was dying to hear everything i spurted out, despite aggressively defending every point, from military engines to paedophilia.
having endured three days of dashing attempts at further indoctrination, i feel the need to write up some of the stuff i left with.
it is just good therapy.. right away the change was noticeable in the air.
the assembly hall in la feria, tx still smells like new.

Well lets reverse that thought and see what we have....
should two people who have worked at jobs for 20 or 30 years not be able to have their pension work the same way as anyone elses?

so ofs was at the wt this morning, and on par.
14 the question was, "what trust can a faithful christian whose relative is disfellowshipped have?".
after awhile when no one else raised their hands ofs did, and was called on.. ofs commented, "one of jw can have the trust that god will lovingly give them the ability to uphold the disfellowshipping arrangement by totally shunning family members.".
