If jw's obeyed all of the bible commandments what would they be like?

but then ignore the others.

this is very hippocritical and if they are going to obey one commandment they should be obeying the rest.. just as a bit of fun then... what would jw's be like if they obeyed every rule in the bible?.

Since Jesus said the identifying mark of true Christianity would be love, I think they would have to change from the ground up.

Just the thought of all the changes needed would make the top of the GBs heads explode.

Guardians of Doctrine.

i'm still working my way through the videos..... this has probably been covered before but had anyone else ever heard them use this phrase before?

not me... but it's a clever and as per usual misleading choice of words.. if they are indeed guardians of doctrine, they are very poor ones.

if so jws would believe the same thing now that they did in 1879 and we all know that's not true.

was that to side step the point Angus Stewart was trying to establish that they are the creators of the doctrine?

The Org. determinedly does NOT consider Deborah a judge, never mind what the Bible says, hang the Bible!

Over and over if you search their literature they allow only for her being a prophetess.

do you expect to see a gb wearing a 17000 us$ iwatch when answering to a court.

I know that Punk is right on that...

I remember my step father (elder) doing spy recon missions hiding in bushes trying to catch a cheating wife.

I hear that they are trying to back off from that behavior now....they say they are not "spiritual police men".

So if that is the current "stance" then what Jackson should have said is "we no longer run a spy network".

At least he could have been accurate by his own standards!

AND, that still wouldnt account for what OrphanCrow mentioned above...the extensive data they keep on people.

They originally started this to try to use the info to figure out who to promote and who not so it would appear that the "Holy Spirit was even the slightest bit involved but due to the corruption that exists among their own elders too many slipped through and it hasnt been effective.

If a person were to be objective as a believer, the evidence would indicate the Holy Spirit is working against them.

I wish one of these hacker groups would attack them and reveal their data base.

The further I move away from being an active participant in all things JW, the stranger some things seem.

I know that a DFd person cannot be stopped from witnessing. In our Hall their was a DFd older woman who was going door to door and the C.O. said just leave it alone - she is still baptized and technically can go door to door.

That whole "still baptized but no longer a JW unless you get reinstated" thing is bewildering to me.

one family that ive known for many years from new mexico stopped by to visit my mom.

hes been an elder since the 80s.

Life after the witnesses, friends, faith etc

hi everyone, this is my first post so go easy on me :) i have been a witness all of my life (i'm 37) and truly believed it until 3 years ago.

my husband and i had become spiritually weak and over time i began to question more and more until i came to the conclusion that the witnesses were not the true religion but just one of many religions and that if god is there then there are many paths to get to him.

anyway, i've battled with keeping going as my husband still believed and i didn't want to be in a divided household as we have a young daughter and thought it would be very confusing for her (and us).

Hello theburstbubble, great to have you here!

I admire that you think so clearly at your age. Its taken me a lot longer to begin my exit and to help my now grown kids exit also.

Try not to feel you have to rush in to a new set of beliefs. Other people have put it beautifully above so I wont beat the drum again but I hope you will know that we live in a world where there are a lot of unknowns and a lot of grey areas and you owe it to no one to rush yourself.

Take your time and you will sense what is right as you go along.

One nice thing is your daughter starting school next year will open a great doorway to meeting other young moms like yourself.

Even as a JW, I volunteered a lot at my kids school and made wonderful friends (wordly people -gasp - lol) that are still friends today many years later.

JWs nearly killed my mother

the past week has been hell for me.

my mother started feeling ill and we went to seek medical assistance.

we live in the mountains and the nearest large hospital is about 150 kms away.
