Money, Money, Money...and Money, Money, Money
by The Rebel ini made a post of this, but feel it warrants a thread.
in central london ( paddington) the " property management company" we refer to as jehovers witnesses, bought a church building, which is now a kingdom hall, but with the outside appearance of a church.. i got an explanation from bethel " it's just a building".
well let's give the organisation credit for its business sence.

Meanwhile letters are going out to Mexico to watch the video AGAIN where the poor peasant woman donates her egg money to the Org. -

The Witnesses, prestigeous & derogatory titles.
by The Rebel inin egland we give " deserving" & " high flyers" titles.. this morning i was thinking i should have named my son president.
i am sure it would have given him a great advantage in latter life.. so my questions:-.
do you think when a publisher becomes a " ministerial servant" or an "elder":-.

At least an education is earned though, right?
In the "truth" an idiot can be a "servant with a position and title". Even a pedophile can. No education and NO work required beyond showing up for meetings, going out in service and cleaning the Hall on Saturdays.

One telling thought about how the Org itself views its various "titles" is the recent recommendation that sisters not even consider a relationship with a brother who is NOT at least a Ministerial Servant!
(cuz we all know that has SO much to do with what makes a good mate....)
I think the term elder has always been loaded of course...with prestige but also...I feel very sorry for elders children.
Yes, there are the stereotypical ones that get away with a lot but the flip side of that is the elders kids are held to a higher standard....talk about pressure to get baptized? When your dad is an elder? Its a given!

I talked to an elderly lady, but she is not a Jehovah’s Witnesses
by John Aquila ini was coming out of sams club and i bumped into an elderly lady, probably late 70s early 80s.
(i wasnt about to ask a lady what her age is.
) one of the workers was pushing a cart full of rib-eye steaks.

August Study WT "Prepare Now to be a Good Little Drone in the New Order"
by JW_Rogue ini thought paradise was supposed to be a delight?
not according to the august study wt, on page 20 paragraphs 4-12 it outlines how much paradise will be exactly like being in the org today.
still following rules, waiting on jehovah and obeying those taking the lead.

Sounds like they are talking to the disgruntled brothers that are not part of the "new" building program - the one that replaced the RBC.
I have heard that some of those brothers are pretty P.O.d at being left out.
But what if we were directed to perform a particular aspect of the work that did not appeal to us? Would we submit to that direction by doing our best to carry out and even enjoy our assignment?..........................
If we cooperate with those taking the lead today, perhaps finding contentment and joy in new assignments of service, we are likely to have the same attitude in the new world...................... -

The elders of the 1980s are now in their 60s and 70s
by truthseeker inhaving just come back from the uk and spoke with some witnesses to find out how my old congregation is doing, i realized i am now the age that my elders were when i was a kid.
and i wonder what the elders who are now in their 60s and 70s are thinking when they look in the mirror and an old face looks back at them.
many of the elders in my old hall are now retired.

The title of this thread mentions most elders being in their 60s and 70s now. So what happens when they hit the "80 and you have to quit being an elder" rule? -

Jonathan Drake
After the way Jackson used the scripture in acts that states "appoint for yourselves SEVEN reputable men" in the RC hearing, I think the plan is to keep it at 7.
After all all if there is one thing the organization is good at, it's using numbers as magicYes. Even though they speak out against it - they are the biggest numerologists of all.
