I just read over on JWArchive that they own a 7% investment with JPMorgan.
Can anyone really know all the places they have stuffed money?
about a year ago there was a thread regarding the 2008 watchtower bible and tract society of new yorks tax return.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/287098/2008-watchtower-income-tax-return?page=1.
a reference was made to the provictor property fund iv which was listed as their primary alternate business activity.. turns out that at that time 75% of the chrysler building was owned by the provictor property fund iv until it was sold during that year.. http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/09/news/international/chrysler_building/?postversion=2008070913.
just thought you should know :).

has anyone here gone nuclear on their spouse and, all of a sudden, came out in the open as a jw opposer?.
by this i mean, sitting them down and saying: i no longer want to be a jw anymore, do not want to go to meetings or preaching anymore!
and, what has happened in the relationship after that?.
I dont know if I could do it so please feel free to dismiss this idea but some who cannot go on with the religion find an alternate "reason" to skip without a head on confrontation with their mate..
The reason I am referring to is some kind of elusive illness. A way to skip field service, listen to meetings on the phone line and of course cannot make assemblies because they are too exhausting.
What do you think?
.
movie stars travel to, or buy their own private beaches, they get invited to fun parties, and are able to buy not one, but several fast sport cars like jay leno.
they can buy their own planes and helicopters and fly them like harrison ford.
(how much fun would that be?
If you have the "religious gene" and I am convinced some do, then yes.
You get power and adulation AND you get to feel lke you and God are besties.
I would imagine that is a heady feeling if all the things that make you crave it line up inside you.
I dont need or want it.
Wouldnt want the movie star life either.
I know I am in the minority there though.
I subscribe to the belief that one is the richest who needs the least.
just on of the perks of being an apostate who is married to a branwashed, blinded jw woman.
you know, we have been married for ~27 years....most of which we had nothing to do with the piece of shite cult.
up till the begining of 2014 was when i woke up.
You can outsmart them goingthroughthemontions!
The first thing is to know that what you are facing is wrong. Many here identify and sympathize.
The second thing is to see if you can change things by what you do.
In quiet subtle ways (dont expect anything at first) begin to woe your wife. If you need help with ideas get a book or check out a website where women talk about what melts them.
Armed with ideas, apply them to your personal knowledge of your wife. If she doesnt like chocolate then dont buy her a box of them and expect a good result.
She loves wild flowers? Take her on a drive and pick some for her. Or go get some from a florist (they can order them)
Any personal indulgence she likes but doesnt ask for? Be aware of it.
There are many things that come up over the course of a marriage that can separate partners. Life threatening illness, financial reversal, fights over kids decisions and/or mates and so on.
At some point, every one of us has to decide to fight or throw our hands up or to just simply go.
You have come up against one of those situations and its name is religious differences.
If you dont care about winning her back then disregard the above!

LOL neat blue dog...
I did NOT catch that! thanks.
due to circumstances right now i cannot leave permanently the watchtower, however i need honest advice of what to say when elders question me how come im not meeting the group out for door to door & going out in " field service"... what would be proper responses not to draw suspicions since i'm aware of ttatt.. .any serious advice please...
It sounds like you are doing a graceful job of things Olivia.
If you can just get past the C.O. visit, things will probably drift back to the daily status quo.
i am new to this site.
i was a jw from age 8 to 28. i am now 48 and leaving the organisation is the best decision i ever made in my life.
anyway, could somebody please tell me the current jw mis-stance on blood.
And dont forget about the form parents can sign so their kids can take blood.
that is as of 2012

The fact that they put this on their website but dont put other noteworthy things on there (like the Australian Investigation) is worthy of zero respect.
If they LEFT this news about France off their website at least you could say they dont put things on there good or bad but this selectivity makes them look very bad.

Great ideas above!
Olivia, depending on what your actual situation is, when I first began fading I limited my service to going on Bible studies of other people.
Meet, go, sit, come home. Easy peasy.
There is usually someone who would love to have a person go on a study at an odd hour with them (afternoons for example).
Also, I had a non Witness friend who I studied with, who quit studying but we still met for coffee and dinner occasionally. I just turned in a couple hours a month for that.
I know another lady who used a bum knee to start her back stepping away from field service. Once she realized the mileage she could get out of that bum knee it became permanently injured until she faded. At which point it was miraculously healed LOL.
I understand exactly what you mean by wanting to do this on your terms without having to answer to or be hounded by the elders.
All the best to you!
i was supposed to attend the meeting today, one of my once a month duties for the sake of my family and my fade.
i read the wt and i just can't stomach going.... what this wt does is again and again reiterate that only jws will survive the coming destruction and that they should be happy about this and raise ourselves erect...eg:.
we cannot expect that many people will suddenly convert to true christianity.
Funny that one of the criteria for living through the coming upheaval is how you treated the annointed.
That got me thinking about just exactly how the GB is treating the anointed.
Theyve stripped them of all power and prestige by claiming that only the GB speaks for God (well the GB and some vague other things inferred by G. Jackson (rocks crying out maybe?)
By doing this they took away the prestige and honor shown them by the publishers as well as effectively placing a gag order on them to say anything at all.
Hows that for how you treat the annointed?
On the bright side however, the GB scrupulously avoids using the word "rapture".
Whats not to like?
