That picture is odd looking. The focal point is the cart.
Why?

.. and fun too !
:d. what?
were you expecting a "but"?
Good one Simon,
I see what you did there!..
just heard from a reliable source that some at the canadian branch have received their lay-off notices under their doors at bethel.
don't know what the letter looks like.
probably something like, " the tribe has spoken, bring us your torches"
it's become obvious in the last few days that the borg is done, done giving one dime over to the membership of the organization.
they know or have been told that it's a waste of time to spend money trying to recruit new members so their cutting all out lays of money in this regard to the bone.
they will continue to spend money where they can make a prophet, keeping the ones in, not thinking and donating.
Wasnt there a time when a whole bunch of people left because they didnt like some of Rutherfords changes?
I think I read that.
My point is perhaps the GB look at the rebound and the period of growth that followed that and think, "who cares" lets do what we need to ($$) and let the rest fall where it will. Then with the dead weight gone we will have a more efficient ($$) running Org and there will be regrowth.

essex chronicle october 1st as quoted.
link below.. jehovah's witnesses have quashed rumours that the bid to bring their headquarters to chelmsford could collapse due to financial turmoil.. the international bible students' association (ibsa), the organisation which circulates the christian group's literature, said on monday that the construction in temple farm in west hanningfield will continue.. an anonymous source contacted the chronicle on friday claiming a woman in the ibsa's construction department confirmed the project would terminate.. the man, a current jehovah's witness member, said: "something major is going on with the organisation financially.".
the ibsa did however confirm it was pulling the plug on other construction projects worldwide.. stephen morris, ibsa's personnel support manager at its branch relocation department, said: "in order to make best use of contributed funds, some construction projects worldwide will be delayed or cancelled.. "however, we are pleased to confirm that the temple farm project will continue.
So the plans include a hospital?
This just makes me wonder even more if the old time folks are preparing sites like this one and Warwick for them to live while they "age out" of life.
yesterday i read something that hurt my heart.
at a talk given by a brother lyman swingle ( i apologize if i am stepping out of line by using this) he said "that if you leave the jw ( i find it difficult to refer to it as the truth now days) you may as well go jump off a bridge".
this i think is disgraceful talk to say to any body let alone an audience in which children are present.

Mind control is so powerful. It starts to control you immediately. Like this point about "where will you go?" That seed of thought is planted when someone new sees an article entitled, "How can I find the true religion?" on jw.org. Immediately, the question sucks you into thinking that their is a true religion, even if you have never contemplated such a thought. A false premise. A person then becomes a witness. It is then assumed that truth is found within a physical organization somewhere. He discovers TTATT and he is stuck with that mind controlling question. And Yes, millie210, I too found it a relief to to see the word "whom". Talk about mind control!! I am such an idiot
You my friend are far from an idiot but isnt it amazing how captive we were to that thought, misquoted and all?
I cant believe I didnt catch that before it was pointed out to me. That is one of the great things about this site. There is a greater penchant for accuracy here.
Pretty ironic.

Thank you Faye - it is very mutual!
I agree - loving this thread also.

John 6:68, Lord, whom shall we go away to?
This question was directed to Jesus himself. In many ways, the Watchtower Society has superimposed itself into Jesus role as mediator between God and mankind and they use this scripture to make it seem as if there is no way in our modern world for a person to maintain a relationship with God or Jesus ,without them being involved.
Pete, you never disappoint with your logic. Love it.
I know it was an enormous relief to me to realize that the scripture says whom not where.
Since the Bible is the book of Christianity and Jesus is the star of the book so to speak, that is a very logical thing to be written there. Who else indeed?
The JWs have tried their best to make it seem like they are "the ones" and there is no where else to go.
Funny how one small word can make such a difference in context.
i did not believe i would see the demise of the wt in my lifetime, and maybe i will not, they may be able to ride out their present problems.. but how do you think this will affect the average, loyal, believing jw ?.
usually most things just wash over them, if there is a slight niggle, they use their well-worn way of explaining things to themselves as in "the end is near" or "jehovah knows best" etc etc.
but the huge sea-change in corporate policy that we see unfolding, all construction work stopped, except warwick and maybe their biggest project, chelmsford u.k. huge bethel layoffs, and the lifestyle of the remaining staff reduced to virtual slavery, more bethel closures, spiritual food reduced for the public as well as the r&f, and all of this being the opposite of what they have claimed was evidence of jehovah's blessing ???.
Dagney.
These new changes with the focus on the preaching work is an attempt to rally the troops. Ugh, I can't stand this manipulative cult.
That is so true...if a person looks back at posts here from this time last year, everyone was talking about how the preaching work didnt seem as urgent with all the building plans and the trolleys and the almost manic referencing to JW -dot- Org by all the JWs.
The whole train was going down a different track and in less than 9 months there is a complete switch and the gloss over is "were a gonna focus on the preaching work"
yeah.
got a call from a relative that i should go to the meeting this sunday because something major to be announced.
(they were told it has to do with branches closing down, missionaries being sent home, etc).
i said it's probably money.
