Jehovah's Chariot slams into reverse!
by apocalypse inthe question i will be asking dubs at the hall this week is, "since jesus is directing the slave.... why has he done a 180..?".
last sunday we studied how jesus is directing the slave to build an average of 5 kingdom halls a day since 2000. why has he changed his mind and gone in the completely opposite direction?.
if this 'change' is not securely lodged in their craw by the time i am through, then i will eat my hat..

Does Anyone Still Believe in God?
by LaurenM indo any of you ex-jw's still believe in god?
even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.
the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

Diogenesister
millie210 I agree with you, and although I am someone who has followed that formulae to a tee and am now an athiest I feel very uncomfortable with the fact that thiests are nervous about expressing their views on this forum. I love the idea of you following your own path, thats cool. Thats what we should all be about here - ACCEPTANCE.
I personally am still grieving over Jesus.I really miss him being in my life. I know it seems foolish but there it is.Thank you for your post Diogenesister.
You sound like exactly the type of atheist I would enjoy talking to and listening to..
I wish more atheists and theists could talk in an environment free of "listen to me! I know the only right way!"
Maybe one day it will happen..

So sick of the abuse...
by iwasblind ini am still serving as an elder but just hanging in there.
i think their quandry is that they don't see me out in the field, but when they need encouragement and decent prayer they come to me.. i just got off the phone to this poor sister who i have only met twice.
she is not even in my congregation (her sister is).

iwasblind, you are in one of the toughest spots we can find ourselves in life. Trying to work from within.
If people are coming to you from other congregations that shows how approachable you are and what a desert this Org has turned out to be as far as anything refreshing for the soul.
My hats off to you and I hopr you have away to nourish and sustain yourself so you do not burn out completely yourself.

Bethel Layoff Notices arrive under Bethellite doors
by Quarterback injust heard from a reliable source that some at the canadian branch have received their lay-off notices under their doors at bethel.
don't know what the letter looks like.
probably something like, " the tribe has spoken, bring us your torches"

I wonder how it felt to be the person who had to shove those letters under the door. -

The Borg has given up!!!!
by Crazyguy init's become obvious in the last few days that the borg is done, done giving one dime over to the membership of the organization.
they know or have been told that it's a waste of time to spend money trying to recruit new members so their cutting all out lays of money in this regard to the bone.
they will continue to spend money where they can make a prophet, keeping the ones in, not thinking and donating.

Wasnt there a time when a whole bunch of people left because they didnt like some of Rutherfords changes?
I think I read that.
My point is perhaps the GB look at the rebound and the period of growth that followed that and think, "who cares" lets do what we need to ($$) and let the rest fall where it will. Then with the dead weight gone we will have a more efficient ($$) running Org and there will be regrowth.

Essex Newspaper Confirms WT Cutting Back But Not at Chelmsford
by snugglebunny inessex chronicle october 1st as quoted.
link below.. jehovah's witnesses have quashed rumours that the bid to bring their headquarters to chelmsford could collapse due to financial turmoil.. the international bible students' association (ibsa), the organisation which circulates the christian group's literature, said on monday that the construction in temple farm in west hanningfield will continue.. an anonymous source contacted the chronicle on friday claiming a woman in the ibsa's construction department confirmed the project would terminate.. the man, a current jehovah's witness member, said: "something major is going on with the organisation financially.".
the ibsa did however confirm it was pulling the plug on other construction projects worldwide.. stephen morris, ibsa's personnel support manager at its branch relocation department, said: "in order to make best use of contributed funds, some construction projects worldwide will be delayed or cancelled.. "however, we are pleased to confirm that the temple farm project will continue.

So the plans include a hospital?
This just makes me wonder even more if the old time folks are preparing sites like this one and Warwick for them to live while they "age out" of life.

where shall we go
by Sabin inyesterday i read something that hurt my heart.
at a talk given by a brother lyman swingle ( i apologize if i am stepping out of line by using this) he said "that if you leave the jw ( i find it difficult to refer to it as the truth now days) you may as well go jump off a bridge".
this i think is disgraceful talk to say to any body let alone an audience in which children are present.

Mind control is so powerful. It starts to control you immediately. Like this point about "where will you go?" That seed of thought is planted when someone new sees an article entitled, "How can I find the true religion?" on jw.org. Immediately, the question sucks you into thinking that their is a true religion, even if you have never contemplated such a thought. A false premise. A person then becomes a witness. It is then assumed that truth is found within a physical organization somewhere. He discovers TTATT and he is stuck with that mind controlling question. And Yes, millie210, I too found it a relief to to see the word "whom". Talk about mind control!! I am such an idiotYou my friend are far from an idiot but isnt it amazing how captive we were to that thought, misquoted and all?
I cant believe I didnt catch that before it was pointed out to me. That is one of the great things about this site. There is a greater penchant for accuracy here.
Pretty ironic.
