  I was shocked to find out everything that has been presented here on this forum actually.

  As a "well read" Witness (meaning I avidly consumed everything THEY wrote) I didnt know how much Rutherford had to do with alcohol during prohibition, or how the Governing Body stood around talking in the halls about how to handle the "1975" blunder.

  I guess one recent shock was to find out that all the letters I wrote in 75 concerning persecution in Malawi were a waste of time since there wasnt even any persecution then.

  The slow trickle has become a steady stream!

  in the last few weeks it seems that instead of one or two new posters a week we seem to be getting several every day.

  many seem to be long time jw's who are troubled by the path of the organisation.

  this is really encouraging to those of us who have been here sometime.. welcome!

  Just a comment on "the Halls are packed" concept...

  The last time I went, the Hall here locally had lots of cars in the parking lot. I went in and their were lots and lots of empty seats. The Hall was less than half full.

  If a family or a couple come in one car, a packed parking lot equals a full Hall.

  If each car is being driven by one person, that creates a different scenerio.

  and how long does it last,....... no not that again (one track minds) how many looks are you addicted to a day?

  keep coming back to see anything new, or do you look at posters who you know from experience have comments that will interest you?.

  sneak peeks at work if I get a minute!

  I especially like reading here on Sunday mornings while I drink my coffee. Ive learned more here than I ever did spending a Sunday morning in a Kingdom Hall.

  Recently we've had a member share experiences at Bethel who pointed out how positionmeans so much inside Watchtower world. This video thing shows that in living color. When the two men walk onto the set carrying bread loaves the guy with the mic MAKES A POINT of sharing these men who may look like waiters are not actually Bethel waiters (as if anyone CARED!!!) but are, actually, hold on for it... secretaries for GB helpers. Oh my! Thanks the lord!!! I was hoping those two men were not Bethel waiters! I can now breath a sigh of relief for those two! Thanks God they are NOT Bethel WAITERS!
  Now why on earth was pointing out that necessary at all? Because at Bethel position is everything

  I thought the same thing. Waiters/not waiters...who cares? In what way was that essential to the theme of the "broadcast"?

  Why the mention of their names? Along with their position? It is non essential if they are truly broadcasting to the flock.

  So are they really that caught up in their 5 minutes?

  Why yes they are.

  Pandora's Box is now open!

  hi everyone, i have been lurking for some time now and decided to open the box (hence pandora).

  about a year ago i became aware of child abuse within the org, out of curiosity (just like pandora) i opened the box and the evils have been pouring out ever since regarding the org.

  anyway, this came to a head last summer with the arc.

  My dislike is aimed upward!

  I dislike the leaders and the trickle down of my ire continues toward elders who mimic the leaders.

  I have no dislike for the kind "doing the best they can" elders (rare) or for the people in the congregations. Their lives are hard enough already and if anything, they need my understanding and kindness - like any abuse victim would.

  Most of my feelings are reserved for the young people. Such a horrible situation to be in when it comes to "should I stay or should I go".

  Stepping out of the shadows

  i have been lurking on the site for a few months and thought it about time i plucked up the courage to step out of the shadows and say hello.. i am in the process of fading after realizing all is not right with the organization i had trusted implicitly for over 40 years.

  there have always been 'truths' i have struggled to accept entirely, even as a child, but was confident that trusting in jehovah, building my faith and remaining patient would be enough to settle any nagging doubts that remained, so i pushed any inconsistencies to the back of my mind and concentrated on being the best witness that i could be.. over the last few years, however, i have been preoccupied with a number of crises in my family and stepping back slightly from 'theocratic' activity has allowed me to re evaluate a number of concerns and research sources other than the sanitized wt publications.. my eyes are now wide open - i found things which have appalled me and left me feeling extremely let down and disappointed by people i had really trusted.. i tried gently raising a few subjects with my mum (who was baptized early '70s and still remains a staunch wt supporter) but she will hear no criticism of the organization.

  i understand this because the best part of her life has been invested in the religion and to acknowledge it may have got things wrong would be to recognize the last 40 years have been a vain waste.

  Just got an apology from an exJW

  so i'm back from the store walking to my apartment, over a hundred units in the complex - all jws and ex-jws - and i see someone talking to an ex-jw neighbor of mine.

  she turns around and says "now there's some else i have to apologize to".. she identified herself as an old neighbor who used to play as a jw child right by my place.

  she had told me how she was raised to consider me and all the ex-jws in the apartment complex as evil and thought she had to apologize for that.. made my day.
