The small comfort in this is they wouldnt have to show it if the compliance level among the sheeple was where they wanted it to be.
I see more and more people where I am that are bending the rules of shunning.

i used to be a member of this site, but jumped off a good number of years ago (08?).
i don't have access to my old email, so i'm using a new account.. anyway, i was baptized jw in late 90's.
da'd mid 2000s.. when i left there were three meets a week plus field service.
Hi and welcome - good to have you back.
Here is something I just found out this week.
Former belief - field service is a publishers inalienable right
New belief - field service privilege can be taken away if person styles hair or wears clothing in a way that is deemed metrosexual.
I was pretty much dumbfounded.

Millie would you happen to know the date of the Awake magazine with that picture? I like to use the actual dates of things like this from the publications when I have fun with the folks with the carts, like to point out things to them they would deny, but then I have the proof, at least I like to be accurate with the fake JW Doctrine !!
Im sorry, I dont. I know once before it was being discussed here and someone posted the picture. I wish I could find it!
I did a quick search and didnt have any success,

Im reminded once again of the Awake article with the illustration of the computer cord turning in to the head of a snake.
This was to demonstrate the evils of the internet.
The same internet they now want everyone to use to download their products.
There is a saying that even a stopped clock is right twice a day. That would actually be an improvement for the Org. They could get it right twice a day (maybe) if they would just stop and hold still on a belief or method. Instead they careen from side to side calling it "new light".
so my niece (not thru my brother but rather my wife) had been talking about going to her prom.
the family had privately been somewhat doubtful that she would be allowed to go.
the problem was that they kept promising she would be allowed but history has shown us that her parents tend to get her excited about things and then drop the denial on her at the last minute.
If its viewed as a "first mistake" kind of thing that maybe they "fell in to" without realizing it might not lead to anything...key word being might.
if they have a history of not controlling their teenager - that is how this is viewd (the prom thing) as him not having his household in subjection, then this might get him removed.
That s one of the problems a lot of us have with the whole arrangement for servants in the Hall...so much of who is appointed and how they qualify is highly subjective and not at all Holy Spirit or scripturally based.
first of all, i am not quite sure whether this is the right place to ask my questions.
if this is not really appropriate, please tell me in advance, but i really did not know who to turn to, so i thought why not ask the internet... now, i know many of you are apostates and i'm not really looking for "leave it all behind you" answers, but really for experiences, thoughts and ideas... as well as maybe some verses if you can think of any.. anyway, first things first.
since this is very anonymous and i'd like to keep it that way, i will not give you my name, but still, i think some background info might be helpful.
Ok here it is.

This is the link to the thread where the letter is discussed.
in the 10th post by JWFacts, the letter is there to read.
On page 2 of the thread a poster named wifibandit has provided a link to the actual letter.
I hope this helps you in your search to find answers.

Hi TeaBiscuit,
As someone who was born in and a life long member of Jehovahs WItnesses (I am not disfellowshipped - just drawing back from them in order to take an objective look)
I was stunned to see that the elders were recently sent a letter instructing them to not allow someone to participate in service if they cut their hair or dress in a way that looks metro sexual.
This is shocking not just because it is such a strict stand but it reverses a previous policy that going out in service was a God given right of true Christians. A right they have now removed.
Since dress and grooming are some of the more superficial parts of a persons identity, does that give a window in to the thinking of the organization in matters that would touch upon your question?
I believe so.
I will try to go find the link to that letter that the elders are reading so you can read it for yourself with your own eyes.
Perhaps someone else will come along here who has the link at hand and provide it for you to read.
(i am still a serving elder.
i have no idea how much longer i can stomach it.
timing is terrible for stepping down right now, though.
I would have drawn enormous comfort from knowing elders with their eyes open were still inside back when I was still in, exjwsrock.
So do what you have to do. I admire you being so concerned about your wifes emotionally stability.
Time is a great equalizer. It can change events so much that we think differently because of nothing but the passing of time. Hopefully this will be so with your wife.
As for the errant sheep above, he probably doesnt want to get DFd because of someone he loves - maybe siblings. parents. friends or so on.
He may be just fine with losing the wife if she is so inclined though, especially if theirs was one of those teen marriages that are so common in the ORg.
may 21, 2016 to all congregations re: annual items for 2017.
David_Jay I have to say that you make some logical and compelling points.
I do have one question though....what if they are not printing the volumes anymore because they dont want the accountability in print? There have been numerous examples here of where they have gone back and changed wording. What if that is a strong reason for no bound volumes in hard copy?
As for the other literature, are they still going to print anything? Bibles for instance?
i'm just curious as to how it all happened.. to explain.
many years back, before ex-jw websites, i called on a local lady in order to design an extension to her already enormous house.
she was a young, voluptuous gal, married to a much older local business man who spared little expense in order to give his young wife whatever her heart desired.. we chatted for ages.
Thanks wifibandit!
Interesting that they couched the announcement in between banal announcements that appeared all the time.
A slap in the face to him and their way of diminishing the entire event no doubt.
As to how it felt at the time? I was pioneering and in my 20s and all I thought was that Jehovah lost a son (satan) and now Fred Franz had suffered the loss of his nephew and it seemed that no one was immune to the bad effects of sin.
Of course back then, the GB werent real anyhow. They were just names..
