Cart "witnessing" in Rio during the 2016 Olympiad

at the 2016 olympic games in rio de janeiro, brazil, there are reportedly 62 carts with over a thousand brothers/sisters taking shifts and <ehem>working</ehem> the proximity in rio de janeiro from 8 in the morning till 11 at night (8:00 to 23:00), august 5th-21st.. .

such an "olympic" effort!.

Any Reviews or Feedback from the District Convention??

i stopped in to see if that are any overwhelming statistics, stories or feedback from people regarding the 2016 district convention.....haven't seen much...... any stories or threads?.

It might be worth mentioning that in the final video (the ressurection/new system video) where they are wrapping all the other videos in and showing the outcomes of the people who were in the previous videos, that the one of the DFd girl?

She and her kids made it in to the final video. The presumably worldly man she got DFd over and had the kids with (their father) is not shown.

Are we being lead to a subliminal conclusion that he died?

If so how horrible to put in peoples heads.

Did they just leave him out because they didnt want to come right out and say what they really each - that most of humanity is going to die at Armageddon?

If so, how cowardly.

So subliminal threats or cowardice on their part. Those are the choices the video leaves us with.

Hi daringheart,

I have only heard three things...

One from an elderly man - "The assembly was all about the brotherhood!"

(it wasnt, it was about loyalty - especially as it applys to the Org.)

Another from a middle aged guy - "There werent any new releases because they are trying to appeal to the young people and they like everything digital ya know!"

(oh really......THATS why? hmm)

And the third was the most pitiable of all, an older, widowed, faithful woman. Her comment was concerning the infamous "bunker" video - "I heard from a friend who knows someone up at Bethel that they are trying to prepare us for the persecution that is coming....they must know something we dont!"

Funny thing about that book...

many of the statements it makes are quotes from Wachtowers and KMs already in existence.

All pulled together in a resource manual.

Since the mere peon pubs have access to all the Watchtowers and KMs, what is the big secrecy deal?

I mean other than the obvious pecking order stuff?

I think it may have to do with the Elders School they attend where they are given information to write in the margins of their book, some of which gets rather detailed and somewhat strange.

It is a brilliant move though, that way if an elder acts on it, and a law suit or some type of complaint resulted, well...

its in the elders handwriting NOT the Societys!

A Question

i would appreciate knowing from someone in the know if the goofy carts and rain covers are given to the congregation by the org.

or if the congregation has to pay the org for them.

i am sure i read that somewhere here in my lurking days, but am not finding it at present.. if the congregation is billed for it i intend to use that as a reason for my continued refusal to donate anything from now on.. thanks in advance..

That is pretty interesting that the cart is just gathering dust!

Here, the cart is in great demand. The way it is done locally, the cart is checked out (like a library book) and the form that is signed confers ALL liability connected to the cart to the person checking it out.

So if a person walking by the cart were to trip over it, break their leg and sue, the very unknowing brother or sister who checked it out might get a big surprise.

That Henrietta Riley trust is an interesting piece of work.

Good solid research about the Orgs seamy involvement but I am wondering about TM himself.

Most families of that old money type have trust funds or stock shares that go to heirs on reaching a majority.

I am wondering if TM denounced his share in the family pot or still gets his money.

My main reason for wondering is much has been made (mostly by TM himself) of his two sons and daughters in laws staying with the Org and not leaving like most young people. Tony says it is due to him and of course, Jehovah.

If there are ANY financial strings between TM and his Morris familial connection that provides an alternative reason for why his sons may be so compliant with dear papa.

They stand to gain that as their inheritance just like daddy Tony did. If they got DFd and Dad disowned them it could cost them millions.

So IF there is still a viable financial connection between TM and the Morris business, that could explain a lot.

Next time he brags in a Watchtower about how to raise kids, maybe he should mention fear of losing access to Daddys money among his other bits of "parental wisdom".

spoke with a fellow apostate from my own area.

she and i bailed out about the same time and kept in touch.. she used to do secular work with one of the local elders in his cleaning business until she got dfed.

this same elder was one of the more profound dickheads on my reinstatement committee, before i turned around two years later and daed.. business required her to contact the elder on behalf of an old client.

I had to think on this and there is a trend toward less giving in our Hall(I'm the Account Servant).
Our Accounts went from $6000 a year ago and now around the $1000 mark. One Elder(he is the biggest contributor) asked me any trends I have noticed. I told him" Everyone pays by check and yet only 2 Elders out of 7, and 2 MS's out of 6 and 1 Pioneer out of 14 give on a regular basis. Most of them I have never seen a check from them in 3 years! He paused and said:" The example of those taking the lead shows by the results, and I don't know how to fix it".

He sounds like an elder with thinking ability and a business sense. Too bad he is locked in to an administrative situation in the Org where his hands are tied to use any autonomous common sense or business acumen.

A drop from 6 to 1 is pretty significant.
