Didnt they already have a "version" of this as Blondie mentioned above?
I swear, this religion just goes in a big circle going no where......
i seem to remember many talks and articles in the past about repeating rumors.last night before going into the book study the conductor said something to the effect, "i heard a rumor and i don't know if it's true but the rumor is that in the future we will be using only;y videos at the door.".
anyone else heard this "rumor"?.
and whats up with repeating rumors from the platform?

what if fred franz had never existed?.
those of you who weren’t around in the days when he was the oracle of jwdom or who at least aren’t familiar with the deeper publications he was responsible for probably won’t be able to comprehend the significance of the question.
i believe he influenced jwdom greatly, and the whole feel of jwdom would have been different without him.. during the 60’s, 70’s, & 80’s (not sure about 50’s), he was considered to be almost superhuman by some (a lot?
Good thread idea Magnum. I too remember those long evenings after assemblies sitting by hotel swimming pools talking about deep things and new releases.
I remember struggling to keep up with all the publications that were in existence. Not only was Franz intelligent (a person can be wrong and intelligent) he was also very prolific!
He was at my brothers house once. Everyone was having their picture taken with him. He looked slightly bemused by the fuss actually.
Was a very small man physically and rather quiet, just observing mostly.
It has been interesting now that my mind is open to exploring "the rest of the story" all the glamorization that the Org has either promoted or encouraged about him.
Was it him that had an old Jewish scholar that had a permanent visitors pass at headquarters to visit Franz and they spent hours together concocting doctrine?
How funny if so, many of the things in print may actually have come from that Jewish scholar!
i still remember that feeling.
thank god it's gone for good.
i used to be part of us witnesses.
Great job of showing what it all feels like step by step. Thanks for writing that all out Anders!
a bit of an update, last weekend was my great grandmothers funeral, now, she was never a jw, and never was going to be, no matter how hard my mother, and grandmother tried to preach to her, she was the type of person that would kindly accept a wt or a book, but she wouldn't bother reading them.. anyways, she was a great wonderful and inspiring woman, the funeral was extremely sad, she had been a school teacher for over 35 years and a member of various clubs, so there were a lot of folks besides family that attended.. well, anyways i was there and so was my jw mother, stepfather, and grandmother, we were cordial, didn't talk about anything jw related because, it was great grandmothers funeral, not really a time to discuss how i am an evil sinner, or how i've escaped the org by avoiding df'ing, right?
wrong, as i'm sitting waiting for the service to begin, a lady shows up, now- i have known this woman for a long time, apparently she baby sat me as a small child, (like i remember?
) so she isn't someone i was ever close with, but knew of her or when she was around would say hi to and make small talk.. to give you a tid-bit on her personality though, she is one of those crazy jw's.. she claims to have been possessed by a demon, very very wacky on the prophesies, or gb talks, etc.
Great posts here already Raven. Does it help to know you handled yourself with dignity and class? Your great grandmother would be so proud of you.
I offer you my condolences for your loss and my admiration for your restraint.
May the good memories seep in and wash out the brief encounter with crazy lady.
i truly don't understand the mindset of a troll.
i know it's been explained, but i still don't get it.
it is hard to distinguish between a troll and a jw apologist at times because the reactions are very similar.
They are the same people that in Kindergarten were pulling hair and running around the room during quiet time
just seen reference to a recent letter read to congregations about this, anyone got more info please?.
Thank you for the link respectful observer!

I read the same thing here somewhere on the forum that a letter was read to the congregation this week?
There is a good chance this is confusion on my part.
(a very good chance! )
You just did to Outlaw what you came here to decry in others.
If you cant appreciate Outlaws humor, I cannot appreciate you.
Now there is you some balance!
oh Outlaw......your limited lines and clipped pics have been boring me for close on 10 years now.....save the for someone else.
Now whose being negative and "not " balanced?
(thank you though, you just told me ALL I need to know in order not to take this thread seriously)
Hi ScottyRex,
Of course there is some good in the JW religion.
There is almost always some good in everything.
To say something is all good or all bad is not usually accurate.
Some extreme examples?
Even Hitler did some good...remember the subdivisions full of homes? The improved highways? What about Kindergarten?
I had a JW elder neighbor who beat his kids after meetings for not commenting enough at the meeting.
But he was good to his dog. His dog rode with him in his truck and always seemed happy and unafraid.
This man also did a lot for people who couldnt work on their own homes (he was a carpenter) all bad? No.
How do his children feel?
They are grown now and still try to cope with those feelings brought on by their midweek after meeting beatings.
My point?
We have to respect where people are now based on their reality.
Many times, healing involves validating a person where they are at that moment.
Rarely does it involve demanding that they see the other side of things.
That is for later, after healing and only on the terms of the wronged person.
This website has never claimed to be here to promote a balanced view of the Org. It is here to help people.
And in that, it is the gold standard of websites.
