A big thanks to both of you for the replies. It is the one Magnum listed that I was thinking of although I thought I remembered her doing some religious articles but now that I read it again it was political news she was covering. -

We are becoming champions of grief. We lost twin B.
by Darkknight757 inlast week we had a reassurance ultrasound with our ob.
she was just supposed to check heartbeats on the two little ones and they were going strong!
but because she had extra time and she can be quite anal about her work (which is a good thing) she decided to take some measurements.

Never Thought I'd Say This, But I've Found Something to Look Forward to in the Meetings
by Sorry inmy therapist inspired me to start looking on the bright side.
even though i've pretty much given up listening to the bs and usually tune out the meeting by playing on my phone/tablet, i find the local needs talk oddly fascinating.
probably because it's the only part that doesn't seem outlined to death (at least at our hall), and you truly don't know what you get.

Someone should sit on the front row wearing their hat and exercise clothes. That would be funny! Thanks for the great review Sorry,,,,very fun to read.

Do you air on the side of caution?
by compound complex inwell, that would be an airer.
it's all in how we hear the spoken word.
when a little boy, one fellow thought "world peace" was "whirled peas.

Cirencester Congregation UK: My story
by erbie indear all,.
i have been a member here for some years although mostly in the background.
many of you have bravely shared your own experiences and i am very grateful for that but i have never been open about my own experience.. nevertheless, i would be very grateful to those of you who would now take the time to read about my own personal journey from the jw religion and the circumstances that caused me to abandon that way of life and how i landed up where i am.

You Can Encourage An Inactive Christian!
by Yesu Kristo Bwana Wangu inhttps://www.jw.org/en/publications/jw-meeting-workbook/april-2017-mwb/meeting-schedule-apr10-16/encourage-inactive-christian/.
this is part of the clam meeting this week.. how contradictory is it?.
first, they instruct people to avoid inactive ones and to shun them and to treat them the same as da'd or df'd ones, .

What I seem to see in my area is Witnesses trying to walk a balancing act.
They were told to avoid inactive ones who do "things displeasing to Jehovah" (talk about vague) and simultaneously they are to be encouraging to inactive ones who are one and the same!
Since these unspecified "things displeasing to Jehovah" are not technically disfellowshipping offenses, people have to decide for themselves how to "treat" them.
So it most often lands on the side of avoidance or awkwardness or simply what kind of mood the JW is in that day.
To me, the bigger picture is this points to a power struggle or confusion in the leadership. They cannot send a clear direction down the channels because no one is really flying the plane at the moment.

No prayer at public meetings?
by NikL ini was doing some research on another topic and i came across this from the march 1950 watchtower.... absence of prayer at public meetings!november 17, 1949dear brother:answering your query of the 9th instant regarding the absence of prayer in opening and closing our public meetings:it is certain that the public does not come to our public lectures in our kingdom hall or elsewhere to hear us pray, but do come to hear the advertised subject spoken upon by the speaker announced as competent to handle it.
our exemplar jesus held many public lectures, but there is no record that he opened or closed any of them with prayer.
there is no bible record that he opened up the sermon on the mount with prayer, or those open-air lectures after which he fed the multitude, first the 5,000 and then the 4,000. but there is a record that when he thus fed the multitudes he did offer prayer of thanksgiving to god before breaking the bread and fish and distributing the pieces to the hungry crowds.

Even the depth of writing has changed.
The above quoted articles are clearly intended for intelligent adults who have more than basic reading comprehension.
Today's stuff? Written for 8-year-olds - and then there are the "simplified" editions!
How do you "simplify" crap like "See Jane, See Jane preach. Preach, Jane, Preach! Jane is good."That is my most basic non doctrinal complaint about the religion.

Man in Sweden accidently receives Putin's mail
by jwleaks ina resident of a backwater swedish town called trelleborg was shocked to open his mailbox and find a letter addressed to none other than russia’s president, vladimir putin.
the only thing that per's home address has in common with the russian president’s is the number 23, while also noting that the town of trelleborg is roughly 1,532 kilometers (951 miles) from moscow.. .
when asked if he was curious about what's in the letter per replied "yes, of course i am.

Probably a letter from a little old JW, faithfully trying out her letter writing the leaders told her to do!
Although it doesnt appear to have enough stamps for that really does it?
