Accept flip flop beliefs....Jehovah is the one who is driving the Celestial chariot
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower bible and tract society uses its governing body to force jehovah's witnesses to accept their flip-flop beliefs and doctrines.
their history of conflicting false teachings and practices have left members in confusion.. in this video, david splane blames jehovah god for all the changing doctrines.
"jehovah is driving the chariot.".

Secret Dating
by pinkpizza inso i moved out of my small town into the big city and staying with an older sister i’ve been having some fun in the big city wink wink.
but i have a good standing with the congregation in the city they are nice but don’t really pay a lot of attention to me.
i have been dating a “worldly guy” who is amazing love him but the older sister said he wasn’t allowed in the house.

Good question Stan. I assumed Pink was female because of the statement about living with an older sister. I thought that meant older sister as defined by a "congregation older sister" not a sibling.
Fortunately, the advice above applies whether Pink is male or female. Be cautious, dont burn your bridges, educate yourself as to the facts about JWs and so on.
Pink,
I love the advice you got from Pete ZaHut. Hope it helps you as a guide.
AND he is "pizza" just like you - so common ground!

Saying hello again
by EdenOne injust saying i’m still alive and greeting everyone, veterans and newcomers to this forum.. 2018 was a year with a lot of turmoil in my life; me and my wife separated, then reunited months later, and spent the second half of the year healing the emotional wounds from that episode.
that, along with a record year in terms of my business meant that choices had to be made regarding my time, and i decided to focus on my marriage instead of other endeavours.
it seemed to have paid off.

The WTS is either becoming astoundingly, inordinately greedy, or they are running out of money.

You might add this one to your list:
Baptisms of adult outsiders at an all time low...next to zero!
Good one!

No.
It has been a long slow extraction of myself from them. Mostly to keep the waters calm with all my family/friend connections.
I did go to Memorial last year, as a concession to elderly family members. That is the extent of my going in a Hall. It seems to not matter much to "in" JWs what I do as long as I dont rock the boat too hard in any one direction at any one time.
I do have several JWs who work for me so I get to see and hear a lot without the drudgery of having to actually go in to a Kingdom Hall

These figures belie what I see with my eyes.
Congregations are closing.
Attendance at meetings is down.
Service is mostly perfunctory and token
Building projects have tanked and are just "not discussed"
On a positive note, conventions still appear mostly the same
Thats what I see.
Then there is what they "report"

What JW Beliefs Did You Find Difficult To Explain?
by minimus inthere are a lot.
anything blood related was difficult to reasonably prove from a witness perspective.. 1914 was another one.
what can you add to the list?

Inviting people to a Kingdom Hall while steadfastly refusing to accept an invitation to their place of worship.
This applied to giving them literature while refusing theirs also.

Oh the irony of using a " a pool party is not a Watchtower sponsored event" argument.
They work the point hard at every meeting watch your association, to segregate their members from the "world". ESPECIALLY for association their children are allowed.

Douglas Murray in conversation with Jordan Peterson
by LoveUniHateExams ini gotta say, i wasn't particularly impressed with peterson in his debates with sam harris - way too much waffling about 'the spirit of the logos' xd.
but here is a nice, interesting discussion with douglas murray.. i think there's mutual respect between the two men.
during the debate with harris in london, peterson reached across and adjusted murray's mic.

I am so glad to see this thread. Much appreciated LoveUni!
I have been deeply impressed and influenced by Jordan Peterson in my walk away from the JWs
I think my soul was starved for deep intellectual thinking after dining so many years on what amounted to food from a table posing to be intellectual with very little content.
I like knowing the "why" behind the "what". Jordan Peterson gave me things to look at as to why religion seems to be so important to people. What the archetypes are actually providing for people and why they sadly swallow so much dogma in order to fill those needs.
He has helped me formulate my own detachment from religion as a whole, in a systematic thoughtful way.
Perhaps for people needing to cross from the deep time they spent as a witness to a world where they can be detached and objective, he provides a bridge.
I am not familiar with Rubin but I will be now, thank you.
